And the shift knob for all MINIs for the next 7-10 years. Discuss.

    Hmmmm.....

I'm more intrigued by the fact that toggles still exist.

Maybe they are trying to put the Whalen Shift Machine out of business.

And that they still leave the ugly empty spaces for the US market. :frown5:

:cornut: Just me. I enjoy the toggles as they remind me of my old Datsun SPL311 roadster and my Triumph Spitfire.

I have no empty spaces among my toggle switches - left window, front fog lights, central locking, rear fog light, right window.

    Five spaces, five switches. :biggrin5:

That is a funcky place for a Starter toggle, I prefer the big azz red button. :) Even on the steering wheel would be OK. :)

We shall see how it executes, odd shift knob in my humble opinion, do you squeeze it?

I can already see myself reaching for an adjacent toggle, hitting a bump in the road, and striking the red toggle.
I'm sure 'they' thought of this scenario so I'm looking forward to seeing how MINI helps keep is clumsy types from killing the fun at inappropriate times :)

That was my first thought way back when they first showed that.

Kind of hard to see depth in the photo, but I would prefer a shifter (especially a manual shift) to be uniformly textured. It should not have cut-outs or changes in material within the enclosed hand. A thumb-operated start button on top of the shifter would be nifty.

Can you really have 2 zones of climate for a duel zone climate control in a MINI?

I'll certainly try. Probably have to visit a dealership when the model comes out, and maybe order a shift lever.

I guess I'm out of touch a bit; what's with the "F56" designation??
