Ok old people relax. Drive whatever Autotragic/ CVT thing you want. NO ONE IS JUDGING YOU.

The point of the tread was this is what MINI should have built and not the ugly GP3.

MINI will be leaving North America soon so it won’t matter. If you have been under a rock last week, BMW has pulled all financial support from MINI North America. No BMW leasing, no rebates, on and on. Dealerships will be closing soon.

    There’s a difference between someone
    preferring an automatic transmission
in a sporty car and the manufacturer
not even offering a manual transmission
    option.
The first is perfectly fine for that person
and the latter is an ultimate blunder for
    a ... driving machine maker.

I don't live under a rock, but heck if I did it would save a load of money. :Pompus:

    NEWS FASH!!!

Found a nice rock to live under. Close proximity to many fine southern Ohio driving roads.

MINI is in NO WAY beating Toyota in Sales.

If you are not aware BMW Is pulling all financial support for MINI North America.

Meaning MINI will be closing dealerships soon.

Win on Sunday, sell on Monday...or whatever day it is in the desert.

It will be sad if they shut down in N/A, maybe they can sell it to Leyland.

+1 That is more BMW than MINI. Custom all the way. In Rally at least the cars have some semblance of a real car.

I agree that it is a custom build but it was built according to the rules. Used to really like rallying way back in the day when the cars were more stock appearing but times and taste change.

I beg to disagree. My wife had a Corolla when I married her. It was flimsy and grossly under powered. Had really poor handling. Never did figure out what was causing the rattle in the driver side door. Replaced the brake light switch 3 times. Service schedule had us do oil changes every 4 months so since we did routine maintenance on it so often, nothing should break. Yah...I thought it was a nice car for an economy car. Interior fit n finish was impeccable. But it was no more or less reliable than any other car. I certainly would not have kept it running more than 100,000 miles or so. I would take my R53 MCS over a Toyota anyday.

Many of my friends and even relatives have a Yaris for commuting purposes. There is a uphill transition turn that is banked the wrong way in a part of town where I typically test drive cars. The "normal" model Yaris would not handle that corner very well. The drive wheel actually lifts off the pavement if you are doing anything other than barely moving up the hill. Whereas a MINI (the R50 at high revs is a lot of fun here) would take the corner virtually flat.

For the money, I'm thinking this Yaris would have those faults ironed out. Too bad it won't available in North America.

I enjoyed flogging an R50 Justa with paddle shifters very much. Wished they didn't decide they were extra cost options for those who drive automatics.

Last week a co-worker was completely confused why anyone would want a manual transmission. He couldn't understand how driving could be considered fun.

    He only owns Cadillacs.
