Plug condition is definitely something good to watch. Mine are nice and clean too.
Though I suspect there are situations where you can have clean plugs but still have some carbon around the exhaust valves or some gummy intake valves...

Interesting. Thanks, Paul.
But what makes the oil dark?
Thanks for the link. I will have the oil looked at. Looking forward to a report that I can puzzle over as well. -
Combustion by-products
a little stuff gets past the rings on the power stroke, and some of the oil on the walls of the cylinder get burnt when the power stroke occurs. This is the stuff that turns into sludge. There is some stuff that comes in via the air, but that is less and less.
Way back when with leaded gas, the sludge had a very high lead content. Dropping lead from gas helped reduce sludge as well. Side benefit from doing the right thing in terms of health exposure...

I don't use or recommend adding Seafoam to your crankcase. The video instructs how to add the product to the intake tract to clean out burnt oil deposits on the back of the valves and piston heads not to clean sludge. I've torn my MINI's engine completely down after 75k(N12) and seen no evidence of sludge at all. Now that's with oil changes every 3k religiously. The deposits from blowby via the intake tract is a whole other topic.

Apologize if I was unclear. Not suggesting adding to crankcase. In my somewhat challenged mechanical sense I used some terms incorrectly

My 03 MC has about 168,000kms, or 105,000 miles. When I changed the plugs last year at 100,000 miles, the plugs looked almost new. I change the oil every 5000 miles.

i change my oil every 7500 miles

Time means as much as Miles.... Lil Video I took of a car that believe it or not drove in. This was 2 yrs on the oil and IIRC not that many miles. like 5 or 6k.
