Apple for me. I'm on my 3rd version of iPhone (soon to be 4th) and can't really imagine going to anything else. I really like the form factor of their design and the quality of material that they use. M.A.D. brings home most of the new phones that come out for AT&T, so I get to play with them, but the all feel plasticky and cheap compared to the iPhone.
Apple... All my friends are Droid people, and they all have problems so they trade in their phones every year. My i4S is going into its 4th year and is about done.
Droid... Folks..apple was once the "think different" company... Now apple folks act like blind lemmings....getting what ever apple decides to sell...and praising it as an act of faith, like apple is a religion. Sure, they make good stuff, at a premium price....but to hear so many folks that don't cross shop...and they just take what is made...that is what destroyed the car industry... When apple has tons of new bugs in a new OS, demand change...when apple deletes you non-apple music, get mad!! Ever wonder why an apple announcement is modeled after a church service? Think about it...folks sit on the couch fondling their iPhone rather than their rosery beads.... I laugh every time apple says a new phone is "the best we have EVER MADE" and everybody claps...would they make a worse product on purpose?! End rant...and yes, I have owned apple stuff...was quality, I agree, but as a user, I had no ability to tweak it, it was take it or leave it as is. Do it the apple way, or no way... End rant!!
Some of your points are true and well taken. I can't stand how some people have to have an apple product because it is trendy. I have been an Apple fan for a long time even when I was being told they would go out of business. But they are not as pricey as you think. If you try to get a windows machine with the same specs as an MacBook Pro you will find the price is about the same. I got my son an alienware PC it looked cool and was cool for 2 weeks. The computer was sub standard and the costumer support was very bad. He told his friends about what was going on (all PC kids) to his surprise they said that was normal. I got my money back and replaced it with a MacBook Pro for $400 less. I have had Apple fix and replace several of my peaces of gear when they were out of warranty. They are not perfect but I do believe they try very hard to please. Now back to the game:biggrin5:
I got my husband an Alienware PC and had to send the d*** thing back because it didn't start up. I also had issues with a Dell laptop I bought...I had to do a ton of tweaking on it myself to even get it to completely work properly. Of course Dell owns Alienware now...
New Glarus makes a fantastic Apple beer, it's seasonal and available at the moment. Just when I thought this thread was going down the road of futility, it makes a right hand turn back on to the road of utility! I used to moderate on a fairly large site (never again, it's no fun not being able to say what you want to say), and the only rules were no arguing about politics, religion or computer platforms. It was the latter that used to cause the most problems, which always made me think the collapse of society as we know it was imminent. I'm amazed we're all still talking to each other here...
First world problems.... In some ways so much simpler than debating letting a terrorist free after years of "enhanced" integration vs killing them with with a drone sitting on their couch watching TV(with other family members)... Awwww...computer an OS Systems...comparatively clean and bloodless!! But still filled with emotion!! Next choice!! Any suggestions!! Tools? Food? Booze? Smokes?
