Unfortunately neither. My recent food allergies have messed up my ability to eat what I want. If I had a magic potion that would cure me, then I'd eat Mexican food three times a week!
Been watching this area, now I can comment. Wow! BOTH! Thai, Chinese, Vietnamese all good. Traditional Mexican, Tex/Mex, Colorado Mexican, Cali Mex all good. I do prefer my Mexican as served in the Guadalajara Central region.
Have had both, but definitely prefer dogs. Dogs: Lab/Great Dane mix Fox Terrier Cairn Terrier Golden Retriever Chocolate Lab French Bulldog English Bulldog Cats: Persian Exotic Shorthair
Dogs (got two German Shepherds). I have control issues and they listen much better. Seriously though, the train-ability is a plus. Cats are difficult. Plus I'm allergic to cats.
I have had many dogs and 2 cats. At my age I prefer cats now. I used to hate them. With a cat you do not hear them bark or take them for a walk in all kinds of bad weather to use the bathroom. One box in a unused room and you are good to go. PS I still like dogs also. So this vote will not count.
I like cats for the reasons you listed and the fact that you can leave them for a couple of days by making sure they have a couple food/water dishes and a clean litter box. Before the French bulldog, we had been without a dog for a couple of years. The biggest adjustment was having to again plan events around when the dog would need to be fed/go out. Even with that said, I still say dogs because most of my dogs have always welcomed me at the back door when I walk in, while the cats kind of showed up when they wanted to or if their food dish was empty.
Dogs are fun...but have to vote CAT... since a cat is OK for a weekend alone, and are easy to care for, I have 2 in the house now... No 6 am or 11 pm walks in the snow/freezing rain....no "piles" by the door or puddles if you are late getting hone from work... Sure...a long haired cat may hack up a hairball, but kept brushed/combed, it should be a monthly (at worst) mess.... Owen-(half ragdoll/half Maine Coon ((pretty sure)))...big, cuddly cat that goes limp when you pick him up...a joy of a cat, found at a shelter, half shaved as a long haired rescued cat....real handsome, gentle fellow, a cuddle monster...comes like a dog if you call his name.,,replaced sami.. Sabrina- black, short haired...shelter rescue, still scared of people after 10+ years, but purrs like crazy if you pet her in the dark--till she realizes its a hand, then runs and hides (one of our two Colorado cats).. Gone but not forgotten... Samantha - short haired Egyptian mau...one cool cat...still miss her 2 years later...stunning looks and a personality to match!!! Was actually on a TV show when we lived in Colorado when she was going to Almeda vet clinic and she had all but 2 of her teeth removed (was also a recuse/shelter cat)... Lion- another ragdoll/Maine coon mix...could drap this cat around my neck and walk around, wear him like a scarf while he purred..long haired..many thought he was a dog dressed as a cat since he would play fetch and would greet vistors and act like a guard cat!! Spooky - black cat..pretty much kept to himself, But was duffys best friends... Dogs...wow..been a few years... Duffy -West highland white terrier....best friend with "spookey" and then "lion". Great dog..many vacations with her in tow...
