It's not usually that. I've had a flaky TB before, it would immediately throw a code and go in limp mode.
When you say you've "changed most engine parts" - does that include both MAP sensors? Because this sounds like it could be a MAP issue.

Nope I still have the originals. Are the MAP sensors the one on the head reading the cam sprocket and the other on the front of the block reading the crankshaft? I remember when I got the Mini the front sensor on the block was soaked in oil. So cleaned it up and used it.

I did a search. http://www.motoringalliance.com/forums/cooper-s/1241-replacing-map-sensor-what-do-i-need.html#axzz36uEf1fg4 seems I can do a voltage check.

I did some testing yesterday to try pin point the problem. It seems the problem is when the engine is cold. I turn the engine over, it fires then pops back through the air filter box, I turn the engine over several times then the engine starts. If I stab the throttle there is a slight miss fire up to 3500rpm which sounds like not enough fuel while warming up. After about 5 minutes this problem goes away as the engine warms the miss fire goes away. I think the problem is whatever gives the engine more fuel when cold is not working. Fuel pressure is 55psi with the vacuum removed. GTT tuning is making me an adjustable fuel pressure regulator but unfortunately I don’t have the funds to pay them right now.
