Ya that's what I'm thinking, all signs are pointing to timing issue, I'm going to try and do that this weekend

Just wondering if there's anything else I should be replacing while I'm in there.

I came at it from a different angle.... Similar but different...

The oil cooler to block gasket was weeping oil.... Known issue... So that was replaced with a new one.

Then I went with a new turbo oil line (the swivel joint seal will start leaking over time)... Known issue....

The plastic valve cover gets a lot of heat from the turbo and I noticed oil weeping in the area close to the turbo... New gasket and new cover...

While in there, measurements was taken on the timing chain.... It was right close to the maximum length.... So I decided to change out the entire timing chain and went with the complete kit....

Then new oil in the Getrag transmission.... And changed out the brake fluid as well...

The engine is dry now with no leaks

Be aware..... there is a proverbial string that runs through the MINI engine, and sometimes it branches out to include other things.... Once you start, it's hard to stop (fixing things)...

Ya I've heard good things about them, but I used to be a mechanic and know what it's like having people call you up looking for free answers instead of paying for them. I know I'm kind of doing the same thing now but it's a little different when it's your job. I also live in ontario so I wouldn't be renting the tool from them and have a connection for stock parts so that's out as well. I was meaning to go down there and have them check the car over but now with the covid stuff going on it's a little hard to cross the boarder.

He will give you a call when he has time usually the same day. Every time you add to the quantity it adds $2. Add what you feel it’s worth to talk to him it’s just a nice way to say thank you.

wish he sold Lotus parts too

Skooby the clubster has many of those things done. With the exception of the tubo bits & timing chain. So far so good on that one, but I know it is in the future.

We did have to have the Jarvic 7 replaced.
