I bought my 03 mini cooper s and did just about everything to the car, new clutch and all that goes along with that. I also replaces the shaft that connects the power steering pump to the steering wheel as well as a wheel bearing. Once it was all back together these lights came on and never have gone off. Reading others' posts it sounds like 3 lights is common, but I only have the two on. A few ideas I had were the wheel speed sensors- both fronts were replaced, as well as the steering position sensor which I also replaced. Currently when driving in a straight line, the steering wheel is at a slight angle. could this have anything to do with the lights, or is there some other way to fix this?

If you have a DSC toggle it looks like you have DSC toggled to off. Tap it the other way and the DSC light may go off.

If the tire have the correct pressure ( *note your 03 does not have TPMS sensors in the tires) Get in the car start it then press and hold down the tire button in between the seats. After about 20-30 seconds let it go turn your car are off and start it again and the light should be gone.

    Welcome to MA.

On some cars if you put the steering shaft on incorrectly this will happen. On my wife Sequa, after putting on anew steering rack, I was 2 or 3 splines off and the traction control light and a few others came on. If the steering wheel angel does not match the angel of the wheels the ECU thinks theres a problem

MCS02, how did you get the lights to shut off, did you just re-adjust the wheel on the splines or is it an ecu reset or something?

On her car I drove it up the drive way to make sure the tires were straight. Then climbed under it and took the shaft off the rack and had my wife hold the steering wheel straight so I could get the shaft on correctly. I did not remove the steering wheel. Just curious, why did you replace the shaft?
Also I don't know where the steering angel sensor is on a mini or if it has one, but this sounds like it may be the same type problem. I will check the bentley manual and get back to you. In the mean time someone smarter than me may know.

Here you go. #8 is the steering angel sensor. Make sure it is plugged in but I feel sure that the shaft was not aligned correctly and causing the problem. I do not know if you can adjust the sensor, but you need to align the steering wheel any way.

MCSO2, the steering shaft actually rusted and froze up in one direction giving the steering wheel a very weird feeling while I was driving.

Was the shaft new, or used? I thought the only shafts available are for right hand drive MINI's and there is a procedure to make them compatible for left hand drive. Could this have something to do with a sensor, or something else, not being aligned and causing your lights?
