I put on 225X45X17s on stock MINI rims (leftovers from the other car) and they work great! The GP is lower than the S, but I'm not sure what the difference is in spring height. The only issue is that they rub slightly on the front wheel wells under extreme cornering (like autoXing). Hopefully Nathan will chime in, I think he's got the lowest car here![]()

To answer you question though, almost if not all tire mfg's will give you the range of rim widths that a given sized tire can fit on -

I couldn't run them on my car as my 215's really fill up the wheel well.

I tried it once with a Hoosier but that didn't wrok well, it rubbed. Then again thats on a 1st gen car and the 2nd have more room. Plus a Hoosier is a big tire for it's marked size.
