Today is the second day of a devastating wild land fire which started late Sunday afternoon in a very beautiful area of the Sierras, where I had spent nearly 18 years of my fire service career.

Here's an incredible photo taken on Sunday evening (looking west) from the east side of Bass Lake, in eastern Madera County. The fire is currently 45% contained and at least 30 homes have been lost.

 

That photo is terrifying & beautiful all at the same time. I feel so bad for those folks who are losing everything. Sure hope the firefighters stay safe.

Today is also the last full day of summer or winter depending on where you are standing on earth.

 

I'm OK with summer coming to a close. Fall is a great season for back road drives, trouble is the season that comes next can really suck. :shovel::snowblower:brr

I do not like the Yankees but Jeter was a class act.

FYI~ this is the first time in 30+ years that the NY Yankees and the Boston Red Sox have not made it to the post season.

Today is the day Kitty Mini finally sold her MINI for a Hyundai.:lol::lol::lol:
