Sure there is... The 11 days I am taking off for the Dragon.

 

Today is our Christmas party at my house where my wife feeds all our friends in our little Dragon group.
We used to be RM (Rouge Motoring) but some little tool with a huge napoleon complex and had a fit and him and his little mini kitty ruined it for everyone.

We have moved on and we have become more like MM (Motoring Misfits). We do not fit into any of our local "MINI" clubs, we have no leaders, no rules, no dues or no office scheduled local driving events. We just meet up and have parties and our only big outing is a week at the Dragon.

 

And amazingly enough, continues for many Americans....

 

10 years ago at about 3 pm on christmas eve I picked up my new mini after a 6 month wait!!
WOW...been 10 Years with one car!!

 

Well it's Christmas Eve and all is well. We hosted our family Christmas dinner and opened our gifts last night, as our Son is working his 48 hour shift at the fire station today and tomorrow. We plan to hop in the MINI and take them all some apple sauce cookies tomorrow.

Well, since you asked, it was 30 years ago today that my wife and I got engaged at the foot of Bridalveil Falls.

 

So, What are we going to do for Dave O?

 

Today is the day my "work" machine decided to Blue Screen 8 times and now it's Dead. YAY! :lol:

Our IT group has to build and ship me a new one that may not get here until Monday.

FYI I have been complaining / logging tickets with our helpdesk for weeks but I know nothing. Now they are jumping because a VP said that the service I have been receiving is unacceptable.

Anyhow I have had my machine doing (2) daily backups (8AM & 8 PM) to the network for the last 2 years since I knew this was going to happen one day. :lol:

Guess who has a day and 1/2 off with pay? THIS GUY! :devil:

 

Well, today we got some great news! Our grand daughter, who was accepted to all six colleges where she applied, accepted her invitation to attend the University of Oregon in the Fall. What a great accomplishment. Proud doesn't really adequately describe the feelings we have for her!! Go Ducks!

Today is Father's Day! Congratulations to all the Dads out there.

Today is also our 29th anniversary. It was (and still is) the longest day of the year.

 

I'm late to the party with this one. Yesterday's date in 1984, I graduated from the CalFire Engineer's Academy. Can't believe its already six years ago I retired after 30+ years from the greatest job there is.

 

^^^ yep, another day of retired bliss!

 

Today is/was the last day of my seven weeks of chemo and radiation treatments. No more staying in a damn hotel for five days out of the week. Now the easy part... recovering from these radiation burns. Looks like no driving the Mini until that happens. But, at least the hard part's over and I'm back living at home full time. WooHoo!!! Wish I could have a beer or twelve to celebrate, but gotta wait until I'm off the hard drugs before that can happen.

 

Today (well tonight actually while sipping a cocktail at the Hotel del Coronado), by complete chance, I met retired Navy Seal and true American hero (The Lone Survivor) Marcus Luttrell. A more than incredible close to our stay here in San Diego.
