Wrecked his Pontiac Sunfire. He is ok, the other vehicle driver seemed to be ok but being he was 85 they took him to the hospital to be checked out, good idea in my book. My son was at fault and cited for driving to fast for conditions (it was pouring rain) Talked to the insurance company already and they will probably total it. It is over 100,000 miles and you can see the damage in the pics.
OMG, Rick! I'm glad he is ok...youth seems to bite us all in the arse at one time or another. Now, get him into a MINI!
I'm glad your son is OK & hope the other fellow is too. Use this as a learning tool for your son. We all make mistakes.
Yes, 100K, Pontiac, totaled for sure. Glad your son is OK, lesson learned. It took three in a row for my now 26 year old Graduate Student to get it. The last one he was not at fault, but it was only 2 weeks after the second 12K repair on the Jeep GC he has been driving. The GC will be his car until after Grad School or his PHD program and that one is on his dime. It tends to raise hell with the insurance rates, not sure how old you son is, but a MINI might not be the best car for him after a major. Glad everyone appears to be ok, 85 in rain, to fast for conditions, was the elder person traveling a bit slower due to the heavy rain? Might be a point of contention as to the at fault. Take care and best of luck with the repairs or replacement. Don
thanks everyone. Teaching point is definitely there and the lesson is being taught. I haven't raised my voice about it at all, actually surprised myself with my calmness! I told my son he would be at fault and written for to fast for conditions due to hitting the other vehicle from the rear, $155 ticket for that. Both involved parties are ok, thank God. He leaves in Jan for basic so he may not be getting another vehicle till after his Navy training is all complete and that one will be on him.
Glad your son is ok. I know how you feel. I've lost 2 cars at the hands of my 2 sons in 3 years. I had to be understanding with them. My first wreak I totaled my car and the cop car. oops!
