I agree. I think stock size on X-Lites is 195-55 so 205-50 should be so close it shouldn't make that kind of difference. Also, I don't have their dimensions but it seems like there ought to be more room next to those V-Maxx coilovers than the stock springs. Very strange. I guess if there's nothing else unusual going on then a small change might be enough.....maybe. It's impossible to be sure without getting in there for a close look.

Check the alignment before trying another set of tires. Not fun to buy all new tires just to find the same problem coming back again.

  4. i should've taken pictures lol.
but if you can use your imagination, think about looking under the car and seeing the bottom perche of the coilver having a lot of pieces of rubber stuck in between each little space on the perches, and imagine the inner tire wall of the 205/50 hitting that perch. its a lot of rubbing :(

would gettign 195/50 or 195/45 tires be a good suggestion for new tires?

  5. oh and there isnt a lot of room on the inside for high offset wheels.
thats why i need wheels! :D
    wheels with low offsets

Hmm...I've had 205/50 tires on my X-lites for 13 months now and haven't been told of any rubbing in all the times they've been rotated. I'm on stock suspension, though, so I guess that is making the difference.

The stock size for them is 195/55 (when you go down in width, you need to go up in aspect ratio to keep the diameter roughly the same). Tire Rack doesn't show much available in that size if you're looking for a performance tire (summer or all season). I think some people like the Kumho Ecsta SPT XRP, though.

  8. so im guessing 195/45 are out of the question huh?
i do wanna try to make the look of the wheel/tire combo good too lol.
    and large sidewall :yikes:

but if i gotta get 19/55 tires then i will, im just asking if 195/45 would be okay.

Run a few options through the calculator on this page (look for "A tyre size calculator" a bit more than half way down the page). If I were you I'd punch in the original 195-55-16 size on the current side. Looks like going to 195-45 will have quite an effect on your speedo and odometer readings. On the other hand, the smaller overall diameter and circumference will improve the gearing for acceleration (and reduce your top speed). I know people who have gone with even smaller diameters for just that reason but remember the look and wheel gap will change as you go smaller. For example, the difference in radius from 195-55 to 205-50 is a reduction of about one centimeter while 195-55 to 195-45 is a reduction of almost twice that.

If it was me, I think I would consider some spacers and another set of 205-50...or maybe 205-45 if they make them...maybe.

FYI. I've posted links to the Tyre Bible site before. To anyone who had followed those links: the guy rearranged his site and moved things around so those old links (if you saved them) may not work anymore.
