The book that the movie is based on. Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans: A.J. Baime: 9780547336053: Amazon.com: Books I just ordered a copy. Once read I'll be happy to share.
I nominate Matthew McConaughey for the role as Ol' Shel. Hell, he won't even need a speech/dialect coach.
Now this is acting! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbsEDVaPTCY"]If Hitler was an SRF driver, on the SCCA "Neat and Clean Rule" - YouTube[/ame]
I don't have a problem with TC taking the role, but for the sake of the argument... eff it... Why not Handsome Rob himself, Jason Statham?
My thinking is when playing a famous person it should be someone we don't know so well. Got to be plenty of good actors out there that hasn't gotten a big role yet. Put any well known actor in there and we already have a set opinion of them. Think Star Wars, most people didn't know who those actors were in the 1st three, and then the next ones come out and we knew those people from other roles, just one of the reasons it wasn't near as good as the originals.. ( not that they were playing famous people but you get the idea )
I nominate Nathan Fillion to play Carol Shelby...they have the same sense of humor, if anyone could do Carol justice it would be Capt. Malcom Reynolds
I asked Katie Holmes if she'd go to the premier with me. She said no. So I asked Nicole Kidman. She was down right rude. Guess I'm not going...
That would be great! Then Sinead O'connor could go on SNL, tear up a picture of Andrew Dice Clay on national TV, and have another 15 minutes....
Not to take this too far off topic but I was extremely disappointed in the last three. IMHO I think these failed because you already new what the outcome was going to be. certian things had to happen for the orginal three to happen.
When the element of surprise is removed, it's alway harder to create the same emotion as the original. One of hardest problems with doing historical movies, we know the ending... Who watched Rush that didn't know Lauda was going to be burned horribly and Hunt would win that year's championship...
Exactly, so it then boils down to how well the film can tell the story, Rush did a good job, Titanic did a great job!! Although I will watch Rush several more times and once was enough for Titanic.... Lol
Arrived yesterday. So far it's a good read, but work calls and I had to put it down. Another day or three and I'll have read it.
