Still don't like it. I just don't find it funny and the hosts are just stand-ins. The dialog is still very obviously scripted and forced. And with them still copying the original, all they are doing is forcing us to compare it to the original......and it doesn't compare favorably IMHO.
The last one was much better. They are really starting to gel as a group. With more challenges and tests working together they will gel even more. Getting Tanner out of the interview chair was a damn good thing. The others do a much better job with Rutledge being the best of the 3 in my opinion. The car vs bicycle thing is now officially played out for at least 2 seasons now. Interaction with the audience was the best yet.
Haven't watched the latest show yet. Maybe a few beers will help me enjoy it more. :beer That being said I do think they are improving. I have spontaneousness chuckled while watching it.
Ya know...these are getting a lot better. The latest one in Alaska was actually quite good. As someone just said to me..."you can see a defnite progression as they get a few shows under their belts"
I feel cheated. Wrapping up their season with a greatest hits episode areghh. Repackaged stuff we've all seen with no insights left me with a sour taste. So glad I had this on the DVR so I could fast forward through it. Very disappointed, its like the poducers said " ya'll spent everything budgeted, so now stand there and look stupid while we run clips" .
It was TG USA lite.. A readers digest version with only the highlights. Typically American in doing. Some of the very best TG UK episodes are the last of the season. Jezza set the bar very high with his season ending Aston drive in I think it was season 13. The production values and commentary were quite good. It was so good in conveying the end of an era that many thought it was the end of TG.
OK, so now TG-A knows what NOT to do, lets hope next season is better, because even at their best this year they were just plain awful. I think the biggest difference between the two versions is that when I get tired of hearing Jezza oooohing over some super expensive one off as he slides it around the track eating the tires off of it, one of the other guys takes over and piques my interest again. With the TG-A boys, I don't want to listen to any of them....
My wife and I enjoyed the first season of Top Gear America. I agree it was not as good as TG BBC but I still got many laughs. Hopefully it will be on the air again next year and will continue to improve.
The only thing TG-A is good for is TV noise to sleep too. I hope next season is better and what is the deal with it being on the HISTORY channel?
I believe they are owned by Discovery. I am sure it is a corporate decision to provide some fresh content to that channel in order to keep packaged advertising and content broadcasters happy.
