Has anyone used the Torco unleaded accelerator to boost the octane in their premium gas before doing an autocross? Any problems ?? words of caution?? Can it hurt the engine or anything else, void a warranty?
    Thanks,
    Pete

Personally I can't see adding such a thing if your MINI doesn't really need it. In an auto x how much help do you think it can be in a sub 2 minute run?

I think if you have a fuel problem & they, the dealer tests the fuel they'd deny the warranty claim.

Some sort of octane boost sounds like a good idea especially in CA where we only get 91 octane. I have read and seen plots where the Mini ECU retards timing with 91 octane. Thus a little boost so the timing does not get retarded sounds good for Auto-X.

I plan to try some octane booster at the next Auto-X. When the time differences are in 100ths of seconds, every little bit helps.

There should not be any problem caused by adding octane boost, the issue is whether or not it makes any improvement for the cost.

I'd think one would be very hard pressed to tell the difference. But if the MINI retards the timing with 91 I think a bump in octane would be in order.

An octane boost wouldn't hurt. They sell 100 octane race gas at the track, and the car runs great on that stuff.

Yep and a 50/50 mix of 100 and 91 runs pretty sweet too... But be careful with "Octane Boosters", they are not the same as high octane fuel. I've read many pros and cons on them and have chosen not to run them. 2cents

I would suggest a Google search and decide for yourself if it is something you want to put in your car.

Do they not sell 100 octane fuel in Cali? I am from Florida and we can go to Sunoco and purchase it right off the pump. Granted its like $10 a gallon but none the less I can purchase it.

There was an interesting 5th Gear episode a few years back about fuel addititve.

Interestingly every additive actually reduced performance by a couple of percent. Maybe the Torco product is different, but I'm skeptical

VP Racing, Ms 109 octane is the best. Its unleaded and should definately add an increase in horsepower that you can feel. I used to run it in my modded 335i, and it was great. At least a 20 whp increase on a race map in the Bmw. I know we dont have a race map for the Mini's, but if you have a tune, it will definately be noticable.

I just picked up 10 gallons of MS109 and I plan on running it at autox in a week. The mini drives like its on steroids with 109.
