This is not that far off the mark and I am shocked by myself for ever saying this but you know what? That new Toyota FR-S is way more exciting that a anything MINI is offering.

Read somewhere that Nissan isn't planning on standing on the sideline and intends to come out with their response to the FR-S.

    Could be exciting times ahead...

Mazda is not sitting on the sideline either with a new, smaller, lighter MX-5 coming next year too...

As Mini and BMW seem to be hell bent on making everything bigger, others are rushing in to fill the void.....

I'm sorry but when Mini finally came out with the coupe and it was/is what it is, I new they were not serious about performance....it missed it's mark completely and left this enthusiast with roaming eyes....

Do we now have a good clue as to your MINI replacement? :biggrin5:

I like the BRZ/FRS twins. They are nice cars IMHO. Not over powered & nicely balanced rear drive. What is not to like?

Just saw a silver FRS today. Looks nice. Have to read up on the rest of it, but it is nice to see Toyota getting back to something a little sportier than Camrys and Corollas.

I guess it is just me. I am certain these cars are great performers and will do great things, but I had to look them up to see what they were and when I did they look just like all the other cars on the road. I may have even seen one in real life and not known it. Me, I want something that looks different, but I'm old, so what can I say. :D

It's a nice looking car on TV. Plus I did see the sister car at a car show last weekend. Not to sure on the specs etc.

However, It is a Scion FR-s not a Toyota. I know, I am being picky, blah blah blah. Scion is a sub brand of Toyota and it is full of Toyota parts.

But on the other hand, How do you like your BMW Cooper, Clubman, Countryman? If your like me that stings a little. We drive MINIS. Those are Scions.

I need less caffeine in my life.............

Sold in other parts of the world as the Toyota GT 86. A remake of the much loved Toyota AE 86. To me it is a Toyota. I'm thinking as a Scion xB owner this is a touchy subject for you.

Time for a soothing donut to go with the coffee. :donut1: :biggrin5:

As Mark mentioned, Mini really missed the mark on the coupe. Could have been a game changer, and it wouldn't have taken much to do it. A little less weight ( instead it gained weight) more HP, and upgrade the suspension. Which are all standard stuff when coming out with a 2 seat sports car.. but keep in mind BMW doesn't any Mini to outshine it's main brand.

The scion/suburu cars are getting great reviews. We'll see how the after market world reacts to them soon.

The only problem I have with the Toyota FR S it is "by name" not a Toyota its a Scion.

I know it's made by Toyota but they branded it as a Scion just like GM did with the Saturns.

Something about Scion just says not good enough to be a real Toyota.

    a its a Scion.

Easily fixed with 2 badges removed & 2 added. Presto Toyota GT 86.

The aftermarket is working day & night on parts for these cars. Won't be long & the mod fest will begin. :D

I think it makes more sense to call it a Scion. They are marketing it to the younger demographic of Scion instead of the older Toyota crowd.
