Just saw a silver FRS today. Looks nice. Have to read up on the rest of it, but it is nice to see Toyota getting back to something a little sportier than Camrys and Corollas.

Sold in other parts of the world as the Toyota GT 86. A remake of the much loved Toyota AE 86. To me it is a Toyota. I'm thinking as a Scion xB owner this is a touchy subject for you.

Time for a soothing donut to go with the coffee. :donut1: :biggrin5:

As Mark mentioned, Mini really missed the mark on the coupe. Could have been a game changer, and it wouldn't have taken much to do it. A little less weight ( instead it gained weight) more HP, and upgrade the suspension. Which are all standard stuff when coming out with a 2 seat sports car.. but keep in mind BMW doesn't any Mini to outshine it's main brand.

The scion/suburu cars are getting great reviews. We'll see how the after market world reacts to them soon.

The only problem I have with the Toyota FR S it is "by name" not a Toyota its a Scion.

I know it's made by Toyota but they branded it as a Scion just like GM did with the Saturns.

Something about Scion just says not good enough to be a real Toyota.

    a its a Scion.

Easily fixed with 2 badges removed & 2 added. Presto Toyota GT 86.

The aftermarket is working day & night on parts for these cars. Won't be long & the mod fest will begin. :D

I think it makes more sense to call it a Scion. They are marketing it to the younger demographic of Scion instead of the older Toyota crowd.

Don't believe the 370Z is in the same price bracket, but certainly a looker.

I'm sure they chose Scion because of the age demographics. Many more "Boy Racers" follow the Scion brand than what Toyota has become over the years. Toyota = beige, reliable, numb..... Can't be mixing the young hip racers with grandmas on the Toyota showroom floor.....

Heck.... Carpet stuck accelerator pedals would have never been an issue over at Scion.... That's how Scion's are driven.... Mashed to the floor, bumpin the rev limiter.....

Scion is where Toyota wants to sell it's sports cars in the US. Made that decision when they stopped making the Celica.

Maybe they are saving the spot for one day soon when they will bring back the real Toyota muscle car.

    The Supra!

Scion has the cute little FR S.

Toyota has the ....next Supra in development.
    * I am sure they would love to compete with the GT-R again.

    LEXUS has the LFA

Take a look at who are driving Scions. From what I have observed it is old farts. The only young ones I see driving Scions are driving the tC. I think Toyota missed the folks they were aiming for. That may change with the FRS. Only demented old farts will drive them. :arf:

You folks compelled me to look at this car by your general enthusiasm. I did a quick read of the sisters as compared by Car and Driver.

    Interesting design for sure.
