Did the temp outside drop a bit overnight?

It is rather common in the fall when overnight temps drop a lot for the TPMS to light up as the tire you filled in the summer is now reading a lower pressure.

140 Is the right rear tire.

Here are all the tire locations and codes.

    139 Front Left Tire Pressure
    140 Rear Right Tire Pressure
    141 Rear Left Tire Pressure
    143 Front Right Tire Pressure

The temp has been pretty steady actually, and the lights are still on today. Thanks for the code info - at least I have it narrowed down to the actual tire. If the tire itself is fine and not losing pressure, is it likely just a malfunction in the system?

Hrm. And you reset the TPMS in the menu and drove the car for a bit?

On the R56 after you reset the TPMS you actually have to drive the car above a certain speed for a period of time for the reset to finish and the light should go out.

I've rechecked all four tire pressures several times, and they're fine. I've reset the system and then driven regularly the last day or so...and both lights are still on.

140 corresponds to the rear passenger tire, and I can find nothing out of the ordinary with it. Odd.

It's very difficult to achieve care-free motoring with warning lights on...

    Sounds like a sensor issue.

Are these coded individually to a particular wheel or can the car tell where the signal is coming from?

In other words could you swapped the wheel to another corner to check if it works in a different location?

When you reset it figures out which sensor is where and notes it. So if you move the tires (i.e. rotate them) the TPMS system will "know" where each tire is.

If you've reset them and run on them and can verify the pressure that sounds like a bad sensor. If you are still in warranty that should be a free trip. If not, well expect to pay $130 for the sensor plus labor for the install from the dealer. You might be able to get it done cheaper elsewhere.
