Don't swap them, buy another set of wheels and new sensors.

Yep... to swap sensors means that you will probably have to remove (or at least mostly remove) the tire from the wheel. I've heard that doing that too often will weaken the tire... probably not a great thing.
If you want a set of winter tires/wheels, buy a new set of sensors. I think that a new set will run you around $150-200, but will make your life much easier and, once you have the sensors/tires mounted on the new wheels, switching back and forth can be done easily in your driveway. Just be sure to clean and dry the old wheels before you put 'em into storage (and a coat of wax wouldn't be an awful idea). -

What happens if one runs wheels & tires without nanny sensors in them? God awful goning??? Or blissful silence?

I would say it would turn on the tps light on really really bright!

If it is the one in the pie plate speedo it would be OK. If it is the one in the tach it will be a problem. I plan on buying a set of winter tires for Babs clubster. I really do not want to pay for $225 worth of sensors if I do not have to.

Yes black tape does work wonders. If it was my car it would be OK, but since it is my wife's not so much.

DEFINITELY get another set... you always run the risk of breaking the valve stem taking them in and out. Plus it's just easier to not worry about it every time you swap your wheels and tires.
TireRack or OutMotoring sells them... that's where I got them for my R56.
LOL- still have them in the summer set even though I don't need them. -

Eventually I went ahead and got the sensors when I put new tires on those wheels. The system in my '09 Clubby is pretty cool, it not only tells you when you have a low tire, it tells you which one! -

Our 08 does not tell us which tire, but I do know how to use a tire gauge.
When we picked up a horseshoe nail it lit up, but I had to find the tire. Not easy to look at with those gosh darned runflats. When I put one of my snow tires on to drive to the tire store for the repair I got a warning in the tach that said system failure or some such. After a bit that stopped & the one in the pie plate stayed yellow.
Knowing Babs she will want the sensors because it is the right thing to do.
Thanks for the reply Dave. -

Did you have A flat, or was it one of those cold night all the tires are lower than when you shut it off deals? Cause I get those anytime the weather changes substantially - which it does around here ohhhhh, every 30 minutes or so....

After the first dozen or so times I've learned how to reset both my R53 & Babs R55.
Yep temp changes seem to get the tire nanny out of sorts.
