not much to see, I raised the rear up a little to help with fat tire rubbing issues , I'll take off the wheels and take a shot when I get my lug nut key back from Willis
The AC blower fan sounded funny lately, I thought I'd replaced the cabin filter recently, but I checked it anyways.More mouse damage! Over the winter I had my hood and the battery lid open to trickle the battery. There is a direct path to the passenger compartment through the battery area and the mouse found it, then made a nice bed on my filter :eek6:.
I've seen several examples of owners installing a wire mesh fitment over the opening from the battery compartment to the vent duct, just for that very reason. At least you found it before they began stocking up for the long winter. :arf:
Turbo's in. Sorry Gary, no write up, I was too impatient to document it all. With the turbo I replaced the oil filter housing cooler gaskets, the oil filter housing to block gaskets, installed Detroit Tuned turbo oil feed line and the OEM turbo oil drain line, and also installed the JCW Exhaust Manifold (thank you eminiparts.com for finding that part for me). Definitely feels quicker. I haven't really put it down hard, but mid range torque is still there. I was worried it might drop off due to slight increase in compressor size. I'll be running this next to my friends Fiesta St here soon to compare. Prior to installation and retune, our cars were neck and neck. So we shall see the results here soon!
Congrats on finishing the install! Will be looking forward to any pics, seeing it "in the flesh," and hearing about your butt-dyno results.
Some Obligatory photos. Unfortunately I didn't get some before putting the heat shield on. And yes the engine bay is filthy and needs rusty parts replaced. Maybe some day.
Looks amazing. That's a beefy piece of goodness. Good call on the braided oil lines. The intake side seems to be snuggled up pretty close to the valve cover gasket. Hopefully no heat transfer issues. :fingerscrossed:
Its not as close at those pictures make it seem. I'll get another shot directly above. I had to play with angles due to shadows for these photos
I never did get that other shot..... Anywho, well since I go fast that means I need to stop fast too. The harder braking has put the OEM brakes to the test. They've been wearing enough to trip the sensor and make the brake light come on to bug me. I considered just getting a set of used calipers and reconditioning them. Painting the calipers and upgrading the rotors and pads. But the cost to do that and added braided brake lines I was only $200 short of getting into the base Wilwood package. So I scrapped the OEM idea and went Wilwood. Then I couldn't just get the base package. I had to get the directional vane GT rotors and red calipers. So in the coming weeks I will have work to do. Not sure when I'll get it all done, but it should be within the next 45 days.
Yeah, I probably owe my friends a FB intro. No earlier posts other than adding it to my MA Garage. Purchased in late June, arrived July 4th weekend. Kept it quiet last month; didn't want to steal any thunder from the MTTS folks. It's a blast to work on and to drive.
