The interesting thing about this car is that you can get it with a manual or steptronic transmission.

With electric cars becoming more prevalent and the advances made in DSG and automatic transmissions you wonder just how much longer a manual transmission will be a viable option.

It's not that I don't like manual transmissions, but with the new type of automatics with a manual mode I think its a no brainer. It could be that I'm getting old. The only time I would prefer a manual is in a 60's Detroit muscle car then I would only want a manual only.

Back in the day when every economy car, hot rod, and a whole lotta performance cars had manual transmissions and lots of folks knew how to drive them but that just isn’t the case today and my guess is that the younger performance crowd today doesn’t give a hoot about using a clutch to shift.

I believe you are right, but I think there are some cars that should only have a manual trans and some that don't. I have tracked my car a few times and ever had a problem with missing a shaft nor have I ever been passed by a car with a manual trans unless they where a better driver than me.
