Trailer hitch Take a look at Curt Mfg. Very easy to install, no drilling. CURT Manufacturing | CURT Manufacturing - Hitch Lookup
The issue many of have with the Curt one is they outright stole the design from MiniDoMore. From back in 2009 by Brent at MinDoMore Curt does NOTHING to support the MINI community at all while both MiniDoMore and MINIFINI do support the community.
Umm, HELL yeah. I'm hoping your post was in the form of a question because you were doing research (not just smarting off). MDM did the initial engineering when nobody was selling hitches for our cars (except Mini themselves, at over $600 for what is now the Fini hitch!). Their initial price was half that, with a product offering that included drawbars and then-hard-to-find mini trailers and hitch boxes as well. MDM donated hitches to many Clubs for fundraising and event sponsorship efforts, including several hitches to PittStopMINI for a number of our Events. MDM came in person to Minis On The Dragon and other events to install/sell their Products, and to advance-engineer hitches for the Countryman. So, well, yes. Brent has been a community member for quite some time, and his customer service is second to none. Curt? I won't buy their products, period. Blatant rupoff. Not to kill an ant with a sledgehammer, but does that answer your question? (note: this takes nothing away from the Fini product, Russ does a great job on that as well, just a different design.).
Here is mine I don't have pictures of it open-looks just like a regular popup. The hitch is awesome- done by Minifini and custom install by Detroit Tuned including electric brakes and electric plug. hidden receiver and electric plug
I had a less expensive trailer with small wheels and no shock absorbers and it shook the load and rattled the hitch unmercifully! Yakima sells this and it works well! Putting a plywood deck on it to carry odd dirty crap (bags of manure for the garden) works, or for carrying plywood or sheetrock. I have the lightweight shocks (250lb rated) but eh 350lb shocks are also available.
Here's my hitch 'n towin' post from long, long ago. BlimeyCabrio » Blog Archive » What’s that cabrio haulin’? Part 2 And I LOVE the camp trailers.
They are a sponsor on this forum Motoring Alliance.....M/A. The MINI-Fini is the "approved" hitch for the MINI. Even has factory installation instructions.
Thank you for that information. I think I'll cough up the extra dough to go with the "approved" one that sponsors this forum.
Well, I went with CURT instead because of their higher tongue rating and much more reasonable price ($650 less expensive!). More details HERE.
Well played cct1... LMAO For those not "getting" the inside reference there, Curt blatantly stole their design from of another Mini-specific hitch manufacturer. Not saying the Curt piece lacks quality, but their business ethics certainly leave something to be desired.
