Actually your post rate is greater, someone cough:Tüls:cough decided to use powers to be a smart ass and adjusted his post count. One day it may get to me enough that I run a job that will fix it.

Somebody started this thread today MINI COOPER :: North American Motoring - Is traffic on NAM way down?
-
BTW, it's not really down, they are down 4% over last week and up 6% over last month. Normal ups and downs. In comparison using the same metrics M/A is up 3% over last week and due to fixing a misdirect issue up 53% for the month. That last number is out of sorts and will level back to a single digit percentage increase as it should be in a few weeks. -
Well if 2000+ people all went to NAM at the same time...would their server explode???

My take on the whole deal.....
NAM is.... And it's not going away. It has critical mass, it has a ton of usefull information accrued, and for many, it's still a usefull place to go.
commercially, it's a great place to be. They have more member, more people who have cars that are at the start of the modification process, and that leads to more revenue for the vendors.
As far as taking the time to actually post complaints about NAM, what's the point? And it actually has a negative side effect. Here are my thoughts on that... First off, there's the standard "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all..." Then there's the "if you don't like it, why give it the time to comment on it?" And here's the downside. The perpetual flinging of craap at NAM, and listing how some enjoy what amounts to some sort of internet monkey wrenching, from here gives ample ammo for those that don't want to allow references to M/A on NAM. So this perpetuates the chasm.
Far as I see it, this is actually counter to MA interests in that the block of MA links means that MA gets less exposure on NAM than if there were no block. So venting here is a bit of a pyrric victory.
Anyway, I post links to NAM when I think there are items of value there. I'd like to be able to do the converse. I can't now, and that's too bad for those that could gain some knowledge and with some added exposure to MA to boot.
In my perfect world, those that had a NAM axe to grind would just keep thier thoughts to themselves, so that whatever bad history is there could fade from the collective conciousness, and the ban on NAM of M/A references could go the way of the Dodo.
As for myself, I feel a bit like Harry Potter. I say "NAM" not "the sewing site".... I think that reference is a little amusing, a bit more juvenile, and definatly counter productive.
So anyway, I've had a very open discussion over on NAM via PMs with the braintrust there. They have thier reasons for doing what they do. I don't really agree with them but then, it's not my site. I just thought I'd share my thoughts with those here to see if maybe some may reconsider thier posting behaviour. Or not.
