I mostly go on NAM for the Off Topic forum. LOL Just now really getting into this site...will probably be getting on more often here.

 

I haven't had any issues with NAM of late. But then, I've stopped participating in most things there.

So I've pretty much stayed out of this conversation..till now.

Until this past weekend I was allowed to post over there. I did now and then and admittedly put some links to stuff here in at times. But when asked to stop I respected their wishes and stopped putting any link to M/A in any posts or PM's. Even pulled the link out of my sig, even though the banner was still there in the sig. The banner was just an image of the forested area in the header here. Did not mention the site by name.

Jump ahead 2 months or so later and this has all changed. I'm now on Moderated Posting, no PM's, no sig. In effect that place is read only for me.

I always thought that competition kept one their toes looking for ways to innovate causing all to better their game. That has been my philosophy in this site, innovate and offer a better tool set. Look beyond the competition and plan for the long term. Grow or die.

Those that do not innovate grow stagnant and eventually wither away.

 

And I thought they couldn't get any lower after they (Motor On) publically slammed the 'Nuts......

NAM hates merrr::lol: Read only for me now too. But I did change my "location" to Motoring Alliance Well till the mods read the 20 something single word posts asking what is going on. Did it through the "Are you interested in Moderating" thread in site feedback:devil:

As far as I'm concerned NAM is a worthless piece of "scat" not worth my time or energy.

The Dumbing Down of NAM

They are select on how they moderate also, no photos I share no matter how germane to the topic are allowed, and my posts edited without regard to context. Important information that is absolutely helpful is removed from my post despite having nothing to do with product I carry. No notification of edit is listed so input appears naive at best. On the other hand, certain others on the moderating list are allowed to post photos at will with product placement visible and brand marketing apparent in text. I respect the person getting away with it, it's the policy that's irksome.

 

Just like many company owners and managers, they do not realize that it's the people who make their site successful, or not......and a few bad apples CAN spoil the whole deal for everyone.

I'm not a frequent enough poster on NAM (although somehow I've managed to post over 2K posts there over the years...?!?!?!?) to know who the problem children are, but just like in our politics discussion here - if all parties involved act like adults, there's no problem. If they don't, well.......

I'm pretty much in read-only mode there now anyway - self imposed. It's too bad too, as the site still draws a lot of new folks every week who think that it's a good place to learn about their cars.

It draws a lot of dumb-asses too, but that's a whole nuther thread!

 

Comes down to this - they can say they have 'XX',000's of registered users that they can use to drive advertising rates

Beyond that.....

Don't care how much you b***h or if you leave cause theres a line of newbs who get pointed to them if they google "MINI, Forum"

 

I only go there for "how to" searches and about everything is covered. It will be here too in time.

I would also include the Sewing SCAT site.

Well, this whole last run in with them has nothing to do we me going there, it's been a few weeks since I read anything there. Haven't posted in a couple of months. Well until today, when a little birdie told to check my account there. More an issue of a goof they made a couple of years ago with my account:ihih:

They also seem to have taken issue with the only means I had to communicate with them. You only need to wait 30 seconds between posts, which at 1 word per post takes up less of my time to write, then for them to read:devil:
