Smart move by Mazda, best shake the new package down before next season.

Yeah, never mind that. Mazda withdrew the gas powered car saying it needs more testing. Only one Mazda prototype to run this weekend at WGI.

Just a reminder. If you want to watch the 6 hours at the Glen (Watkins Glen) tomorrow you may need Fox Sports 1 and 2. That's what this thing says, but some races also end up being live streamed as well (at imsa.com ... I think) without any announcement. No guarantees on that, I'm always surprised if I check and happen to find it streaming.

FYI, there was so much rain today they had to cancel qualifying. Drivers will grid up tomorrow in championship points order.

The Continental race today was a boring battle for survival, with everyone just trying to defog their windshields and stay on the track. The 6-hour's supposed to be on Fox2Go tomorrow. They must have run out of old college lacrosse tournaments to show.
-
Coverage starts at 10:00 am on Fox Sports 1 !![emoji41]
Looking forward to seeing how the gasoline Mazda runs, if that is the same motor that they used in the old American Le Mans series it's got a lot more go go than the diesel dud they have been running... Besides that, GO ACTION EXPRESS!! -

They withdrew the gas powered Mazda P car.

I read the gas powered Mazda P-car is already running quick laps. They still didn't take it to this weekend's race at CTMP. On the plus side the remaining diesel qualified at the back of the lead prototypes but ahead of all the PC cars. I think that's a first.
On the downside for the race in general, there are no GTD cars so the full field is just 23 cars.

Lime Rock CTSC GS, ST Races to be Combined into Single Race (sportscar365.com)

I was disappointed when I learned today's USCC race, the Northeast Grand Prix, was going to be just PC and GTD, wondering why they would set up such a limited field and deny us the full spectacle at Lime Rock. But I decided to give it a chance anyway. After all, it's Lime Rock. I'm sure the other draw for me was the guy who qualified on the pole, and in dominant fashion, Simpson, was also co-driving the lone MINI entered in the Continental race.
I'm glad I watched because I enjoyed it start to finish! I guess the theory is these limited classes races give the PC class a chance to headline and the GTD class an opportunity to run out from under the shadow of the GTLMs, and the relatively short (1.5 miles) and narrow track at Lime Rock is the right sort of place to showcase a smaller 17 car field.
As the leading class the PC cars didn't disappoint. The sound of those Chevy V8 engines seems incongruous in prototypes these days but incongruous definitely isn't the same as unwelcome! (SPOILER ALERT) Simpson, by the way, drove away from the field so quickly it looked like they gave him a non-spec car. If it hadn't been for a bizarre failure he would have won handily but he ended up stalled out on the track because (if I heard this correctly) the fuse for the fuel system fell out. What? By the time he got running again he was laps down.
GTD was fun to watch. Even with only two classes there were plenty of multi-class issues; I can't imagine how crowded it would have seemed with all four USCC classes running at once. I won't spoil it here but the end of the GTD race was a real nail-biter owing, in part, to an interesting strategy choice.
I'm surprised to say the race was a good one, IMO, and I'll definitely be watching for video to post. -

Found the Lime Rock broadcast.
---------
EDIT: The last 13 minutes of the race are missing from this video! It was a nail biter at the end and for some reason they cut it! :mad2: They go to a break with 13 minutes remaining and come back in time for interviews and the race is already over.
I'll keep looking for a fixed version but I won't be holding my breath. :frown2:
EDIT 2: They actually fixed it! See full version below. -

They followed through and finally posted the full race. Well done IMSA.

Thanks for the heads up Steve. It is really appreciated.

Maybe a new thread for '16 ought to be started, but I thought it might be confusing at this point. Tudor exits as sponsor of the series, to be replaced by WeatherTech for the '16 season.
The schedule is also here.

I saw that. Interesting schedule. A certain contingent of M/A folk will note there's still no Mid-Ohio.
Yeah, I think a 2016 thread can wait until the 2015 schedule is exhausted. It'll be easy to post the schedule again. Who knows, maybe they'll tweak it by then anyway. Plus I guarantee there will now be a few weeks of people arguing about how you're supposed to abbreviate that new title.....
