Heck of a finish and a hard fought win for the Ganassi team - well done boys! Heck of a win for Ford too, beating the big V-8s with a little turbo 4. The second car dropped out with clutch problems, nothing to do with the engines, they were strong all race. Of course, it did help that their closest competitors screwed up and had to make a driver change in the last 10 minutes, then got a drive thru penalty on top of that! I don't think the Taylor car could have caught them tho.... Still, to have the first and second place cars 3 sec apart after 24 hours and thousands of miles of racing is very impressive..... Heck of a group of drivers thru out the pits - lot's of former F1 guys, some NASCAR boys, a number of Indy car drivers as well as the who's who of international sports car racing - really good race this year.
Wanted to see the MSR boys do better but with the short amount of time they've had with the Ligier I can't complain.
Well, I'm not sure but I think they get credit for fastest lap of the race at 1:39.576. If nothing else, that and taking the pole probably say something about their potential competitiveness in the less grueling (<24h) races.

I'm sure MSR will improve & get to the top step. Pretty good showing for a new car/engine combination. Maybe they need some of Metalman's magic wicker bills, they worked their magic in 2012.
A V6 The EcoBoost engine in the Ganassi cars is a 3.5 liter V-6. The interesting aspect of this engine (to me anyway) is that it is the engine in the new 2016 Ford GT, which they plan on racing next year. The engine will have two years of racing development in Ganassi's cars before racing in the Ford chassis. In street form, in the GT, it is reported to have 600 hp. We got to watch the race without all the talking heads and ads. But, we do live only 26 miles north of the track. At the track, there were jumbotrons with a live feed of the race - a feed without ads and talking heads. Would be nice to find a way to get that TV feed at home.
Well........I thought it sounded like a V-6, but the all knowing talking heads said it was a 4 cyl! Like I said, I watched the IMSA feed, and that wasn't too bad.....but I agree about getting a better TV feed. Fox Sports is just awful.
Sorry, my cynical side was in charge of that ^^^ post. Here, have a pole lap ride along. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynuFOa5EmM8"]RACER Ozz Negri Rolex 24 at Daytona Pole Run - YouTube[/ame]
Even if they have to live by P2 rules they will get on top of things. It will just take some time. I'm a cynic too, but also a dreamer.
Was that one the Honda powered entry? They lost the transmission, right? Same with the Delta wing, wasn't it - transmission failure?
The DeltaWing is powered by an Elan, a 2 liter, direct injected engine based on a couple Mazda engines, re-engineered by Elan Technologies, based in Goergia.
Yup. I don't remember any mention of transmission issues but I didn't see the whole 24 hours. Yup, DW lost the transmission.
I like the in-car engine sound comparison and when they said any of them sound better than the current F1 engines.
Delta wing lost the translation, but I've not heard what caused MSR to stop heart-breakingly close to the end.
