Thanks guys for the suggestions...The guy that actualy looked at the car told me he didnt get a code but he suggested that it could have carbon built up on the valves. BUT it was a Mini dealer that told me that the oil line would not cause turbo failure.
When the car first had problems I got the half engine sign in the Tach, the mechanic cleared it and told me about maybe changing plugs and doing a compression test. Plugs looked good (but got changed anyway) and compression was good. Wife drove it a couple more days and then she got the engine light on in the Speedo and according to her was alot of noise coming from engine (for some reason she thinks its a timing chain so she might be over exagerating). Im scared to drive it to far but I might take it to my local Autozone (4 blocks away) and see if they show anything...I will take off the inlet pipe and look at the turbo to see what it feels like this weekend....

It wouldn't be a bad idea to measure the timing chain slack, if it is greater than 68 MM the timing chain needs to be replaced.
You should find a local independent MINI shop to have a look at it. Put your location in your profile, someone here could recommend a good shop, dealer's shop rates are too high. -
Put my location in but Im in a very rural area....closest dealer is 200 miles

Is there a nearby BMW shop, most also work on MINIs.

As Dave tried to say, you need a R53.... :ihih:
Just kidding. The R56 is great. Until the timing chain rattles and you have to de-coke it, and it starts throwing codes. Then it's a pain. But it'll be great again once it's all fixed!!
I don't know anything about the R56, I just saw your post and thought "Now I wonder what a turbo failure on a R56 looks like??"

UPDATE++++
Over the weekend I took off my Intake tube and checked the Turbo. It moves easy and there is no noise, so I think I can rule that out. I found a mechanic about 50 miles away that was recommended by a co worker with a Mini and after a phone call with them they were pretty confident that it was the coil packs. He explained that the coil packs and timing chain tensioner was my Mini's biggest weakness. And since I replaced the tensioner a little while back we both agreed it would be the coils. So I had the car towed and they had it for a couple days now. I called them this afternoon and the mechanic is stumped, he says its not my coils....he said there is either a vacuum leak or it has jumped time......Im hoping for the vacuum leak... -
I don't think he has gotten that far yet, he says he is going to start digging into it tomorroo

Well Ok then.....got off the phone with the shop and it is turbo failure. Took him almost 2 weeks to figure it out. He says he took the intake off and found no carbon build up. He stated that the impellor on the shaft is sheared. Exhaust side is working but intake side is not moving. He is trying to find a remanufacture one to save on cost. New turbo installed is $1800 (parts and labor). SOOOO Im going to start looking around on Ebay to find one remanufactured. Does anyone have a suggestion of where OR where not to purchase a turbo??....Also what size turbo is on my '10 Mini?? Thanx again

Mine was to a place out west somewhere to be rebuilt. It cost about $1200 to do that.
In retrospect, if I could have swung it at the time, I'd have gotten a new one.
Looks like WayMotorWorks has some on sale though.
