I want to donate just to get a sticker. I'm thinking of making a MINI wall of shame, with stickers from Palo Uber, M7, GF chips, the dude who stole the MINI hitch, M2, etc. This would make a nice addition.

He is a member of our local Tar Heel MINI Club and I have met him a few times.. He is a typical rich kid that has grown up in the entitlement era.. Realistically his parents should have been teaching him life values.. But like most parents they want their kids to have a better life and or things then they did and they apparently have the money to see to it that happens.. If my parents had provided for me in the same manner I'd could have easily been just like him.. Luckily the one major thing my dad used to tell me as a kid was "when you start paying for your stuff you'll take better care of it" and how true that is.. That has stuck with me for years and years.. If I had a Go Fund Me thing going asking for handouts to just fund a my mods he would be embarrassed and be giving me the quilt trip to entice me to take it down to this day!! but to each his own I guess.. He has a big following on FB and it's "sub" MINI clubs etc, so I wouldn't be surprised if he reaches his money goal.. If people are willing to give him money, and he's not embarrassed to take it more power to him..

No one ever talks about when they break the car.
If the car was tuned past where it should have been wouldn't that mean its not a safe tune.
And since the motor lasted a month like this its obvious its not a good thing to do.

    My take on all this.

As I see it, Kyle is a good kid. A bit to exuberant for me. Oh well, that is my issue, not his.

He comes from money, so what. I did too, and if my father allowed me to spend the kind of money that Kyle has modding car you'd be damn straight I would have too.

The majority of us that are bemoaning the Go Fund Me stuff are of an age where an option such as this was not out there when we Kyle's were age. Now, that does not mean that I agree with the use of the Go Fund Me for the use Kyle has chosen. I too think Go Fund Me is not for this use. I'm not going to call Kyle names for doing so and it needs to stop here. You may not agree with his mission and methods, I don't, yet I see no reason to attack him personally. Please stop.

M/A supports many MINI things out there. However, this endeavor is not one that the management of the site, me, plan on supporting monetarily at this point.

Looks like I need a go fund me page to recoup my investment in my R56 so that I would have enough money to get a R53[emoji1]

AND he has PROVEN he can do it by doing it....
When a random person spends an (IMO) crazy amount of money on a car, then they have it fail in "normal" driving, then have the balks to ask me for some more $$$ to fix it do they can compete....lol...car blew up on the street....something doesn't smell right there....
The fact the "average Joe" considers the driver in question to be "not right", "have issues", or a " doushebag" , rather than a "great guy" tells me something....
I love having folks mod their cars and have fun.....
It keeps the whole car thing going...
But then to ask me to give them some $$ on a go fund me...lol...Sounds to me like "Daddy" said "you spent how much on your car?!!!!" A person can spend their own $$ any way they want...but sounds like the primary source of $$ shut off the cash flow...and he wants somebody else to pay now....

No way it was the timing chain. The reall issue is a poor tune running too much boost and a bad driver.

I just don't get it, the GoFundMe is for people that need help with medical bills or surgeries and the like. People are just stupid actually donating money to him, wtf.

Would somebody give me a 3-sentence back story on this? It seems I've missed the boat on what's happened here, and why the OP has earned the collective tender loving care and support of you savages.

Chris did, and many did donate. Difference is he's a known commodity, and part of the community. He didn't blow up his car out of sheer stupidity and ask for donations; he tore it up racing. Maybe to some it doesn't make a difference, but to me, it makes all the difference in the world.

The Targa is an admirable goal. If it where someone I trusted to do it right (even Way, who has threatened to do the Targa), I'd consider donating. This guy? I'll pass.

Its kinda an un spoken car guy code that you dont go out looking for handouts... Especially if its just a hobby. Its your hobby you pay for it!

Now for pro rallying and car building, there are things called sponsors... Those are not handouts either, just a win/win for both companies or teams involved.
However I dont think that Kyle has any intention of entering any kind of competition... He obviously can not drive from what I have seen of him on the Dragon, and in his YouTube videos.

Ok so I don't know this kid, or the whole story. Don't care to. I was going to stay out of it. But I will say one thing.
If his kid is 18 or 19 he may not know any better. Perhaps some of us old farts could show him how to be a man and have fun responsible. I just know when I was a young man I was known to get out of line. I was blessed to have strong men around me to grab me by the scruff of the neck and kick me in line.
So we see him at the Dragon and help steer him straight.
I have kept quiet because maybe this has been tried I don't know.

    Just a thought.
