650 hp possible - 10 - 12 second runs - LOL what a f..k..g idiot. I wish - seeing as I've spent a fair amount of time around small hatchbacks than can run those times and with drivers that have the trophies to back up those statements I am so tickled by this stupidity.

 

Would somebody give me a 3-sentence back story on this? It seems I've missed the boat on what's happened here, and why the OP has earned the collective tender loving care and support of you savages.

Douchebag upgrades turbo on Countryman, blows up motor and creates a page on a public fund site asking for money to help with his entry into the Targa Newfoundland.

OK.....I know the kid has some issues but seriously, he has a passion and has done some interesting engineering on his CM so I really don't understand the hate. I know the CM is not loved around here ( me included) but he is modding it and seems to enjoy the car.

As far as the gofundme..............if I decided to start one to help pay to go to MOTD would you hate on me too?

I am not trying to defend the guy, just trying to give a bit of perspective.

 

I'll be surprised if they actually enter the rally even if he gets the thing on the road again. Everybody needs a good story to draw you in to make a donation. What happens if he doesn't enter the race, nothing, not like he is going to return your money..

Can't enter because__________, And can't return the money, because it was all spent...

 

I want to donate just to get a sticker. I'm thinking of making a MINI wall of shame, with stickers from Palo Uber, M7, GF chips, the dude who stole the MINI hitch, M2, etc. This would make a nice addition.

What if it wasn't this particular owner that was trying to raise money for the same thing? I agree that GoFundMe wasn't the best crowd sourcing site to use. Are you all opposed to the idea or the person? What if it was Chris trying to secure some extra funding to enter his rally MINI in Rally Mexico?

 

Chris did, and many did donate. Difference is he's a known commodity, and part of the community. He didn't blow up his car out of sheer stupidity and ask for donations; he tore it up racing. Maybe to some it doesn't make a difference, but to me, it makes all the difference in the world.

The Targa is an admirable goal. If it where someone I trusted to do it right (even Way, who has threatened to do the Targa), I'd consider donating. This guy? I'll pass.

 

Its kinda an un spoken car guy code that you dont go out looking for handouts... Especially if its just a hobby. Its your hobby you pay for it!

Now for pro rallying and car building, there are things called sponsors... Those are not handouts either, just a win/win for both companies or teams involved.
However I dont think that Kyle has any intention of entering any kind of competition... He obviously can not drive from what I have seen of him on the Dragon, and in his YouTube videos.

Scott, it is because of how he goes about it and all the MINI people that think he is a god! He claims all the mods are payed for by him, tell me when you were 18-19 did you have that kind of money to burn? Did you live in a penthouse apartment in Toronto? How much experience did anyone have at that age??

 

AND he has PROVEN he can do it by doing it....
When a random person spends an (IMO) crazy amount of money on a car, then they have it fail in "normal" driving, then have the balks to ask me for some more $$$ to fix it do they can compete....lol...car blew up on the street....something doesn't smell right there....
The fact the "average Joe" considers the driver in question to be "not right", "have issues", or a " doushebag" , rather than a "great guy" tells me something....
I love having folks mod their cars and have fun.....
It keeps the whole car thing going...
But then to ask me to give them some $$ on a go fund me...lol...Sounds to me like "Daddy" said "you spent how much on your car?!!!!" A person can spend their own $$ any way they want...but sounds like the primary source of $$ shut off the cash flow...and he wants somebody else to pay now....
