I keep on hearing stories of folks getting offered a $2500 dealer prepaid mataince contract till a used car is 6 years or 100,000 milles....thing is to get the deal, the buyer must buy the contract BRFORE the sale is closed....so the sale price of the car in the stats is higher....
Similarly non-mini dealers are pushing warranties on used MINI 's, citing their poor consumer reports stats for reliability....had the discussion with a salesman at a non-mini dealer...likewise, the $$ is added to the cars sales price....
Makes me wonder...
Anybody that's tried to sell a used MINI has seen the prices lately... largely due to future repairs costs the values have dropped....dealers say...."protect yourself"....
Skeptic....yes.
But 90% of the time you can make statics say what you want with 100% certainly if you crunch the numbers in enough different ways....
