So my son finally got to Great Lakes late last night. Here is a pic from MEPS before he departed for the airport. Last one with long hair for at least 4 years.

From today's newsletter. Not person related but definitely NAVY. Ever watchful, they are attacked from where they least expect it. No organization has yet taken credit for the assault as of yet.

Ooorah. I spent 26 years around some good sailors. Fair winds and following seas.

Best thing two of my nephews ever did was join the service, one's in the Army and one in the Navy. It hasn't all been smooth sailing, but both were just foundering in the respective lives, and now both seem to be on a solid course.

    Best of luck to him.

Did that in December of '69. Spent my first five days shovelling snow. That wind off of Lake Michigan bites.

Best wishes to him and your whole family.

Congrats to your son and his terrific family! He seems like a chip off the old block, even though he's going Navy. That said, I'm sure that he will do his country proud, too! May God bless y'all and our great country!

:cornut: Congratulations Rum4 that's great! I was a soldier and my son was in the Navy and loved it. It's nice as a father to be able to puff one's chest out and say, "My son oh he's serving his country in the US Navy."

Congrats to all of you. I can already imagine him in his Service Dress White crackerjacks and regulation grooming and it's a striking image. Definitely some Navy promotional poster material.
