I feel bad for Make Shank Racing being wrecked by others multiple times. Yucaman should be in nascarp where he can bang into people all he wants.

They qualified 2nd and had the fastest lap of the race. They are definately on the right track with the EcoBoost.

Alex Job Racing will return to TUDOR United SportsCar Championship action this weekend for the first time since the controversial penalty inflicted on the team at last monthâ€™s Twelve Hours of Sebring.

An officiating error resulted in IMSA incorrectly penalizing AJRâ€™s No. 22 WeatherTech-sponsored Porsche 911 GT America for contact with another car that had actually been triggered by a GTLM-class Porsche 911 RSR, which went on to claim class honors without serving a penalty.

While IMSA offered an apology and refunded the teamâ€™s race entry fee for the error, there was no change made to the result of the race, which saw drivers Cooper MacNeil, Leh Keen and Philipp Frommenwiler relegated to a fourth place finish in the GTD class.

â€œIt seems like an eternity since we were at Sebring,â€ Job said. â€œWith everything that happened there and the fallout afterwards, we are just ready to get back to doing what we do best and that is racing.

â€œCooper and Leh are motivated and may have a little chip on their shoulder after Sebring. We will use that to keep the fire lit throughout the season and keep our focus on winning a third straight championship.â€

In the six weeks since, IMSA has imposed changes to race control, including the addition of a third driver advisor, an upgrade to HD video review equipment and the enforcement of each car number being visible in on-board cameras.

There were no officiating-related issues at the last TUDOR Championship round at Long Beach, which featured Prototype and GTLM cars only.

The AJR team sits sixth in the class championship standings entering this weekendâ€™s Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix, the first split race for GTD cars, which pair with PC entries for a standalone race.

â€œAfter the controversy that happened at Sebring, all I can hope for is that Laguna goes smoothly,â€ MacNeil said. â€œWe will keep pushing our hardest, just as we always do however, I really hope the officiating has improved because we have too much invested and my crew works too hard for another disaster to happen.â€

MacNeil, a junior at the University of Colorado in Boulder, will miss Saturdayâ€™s practice and qualifying due to a final exam and will get his first laps in the car in warmup on Sunday morning.

The PC/GTD race takes the green flag at 1:15 p.m. ET, with live coverage on FOX Sports 1.

IMSA.com to Stream Qualifying for Remainder of Season (sportscar365.com)

For the first time in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, qualifying for the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix powered by Mazda will be streamed live on IMSA.com

Moving forward, IMSA plans to stream qualifying for all TUDOR Championship events on IMSA.com.

The stream will feature FOX Sports broadcast cameras and leverage Fanschoice.tv streaming technology.

Saturday’s qualifying begins at 7:55 p.m. ET (4:55 p.m. PT) with a 15-minute session for the GT Daytona (GTD) class. GT Le Mans (GTLM) is next at 8:15 p.m. (5:15 p.m. PT), followed by Prototype Challenge (PC) at 8:40 p.m. (5:40 p.m. PT) and Prototype (P) at 9 p.m (6 p.m. PT).

Laguna Seca race coverage today starts in just a few minutes at 1pm (eastern) on Fox Sports 1. That's the PC/GTD race. The P/GTLM race coverage begins at 5pm (E).

Looks like these split races will be 2 hours each.

Following more than one hour after the checkered flag flew for the Prototype/GT Le Mans TUDOR United SportsCar Championship race in Monterey, the GTLM podium was adjusted with a penalty taking the No. 911 Porsche North America Porsche 911 RSR off the podium and promoting the No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari F458 Italia to third place.

Multiple incidents occurred between the No. 911 Porsche and the No. 55 BMW Team RLL BMW Z4 GTE, with Nick Tandy in the Porsche and Bill Auberlen in the BMW.

A stop-and-hold plus 60 penalty was assessed post-race to the No. 911 for what IMSA ruled an on-track incident, and the car was bumped from third to ninth.

“The last two laps of the race we had some on-track incidents primarily between the 911 and the 55,” IMSA’s VP of competition and technical regulations Scot Elkins told reporters after the race.

“The second to last lap the 911 made contact with the 55 and knocked them off course. Then we had an incident on the last lap where the 55 made contact with the 911 and made the pass and actually got the position.

“After an extensive review, and I apologize, we’re sorry about that, we wanted to go through the process and review the video, in order to bring both the 911 and 55 teams to Race Control.

“A penalty stop and hold plus 60 has been assessed to the 911. It has adjusted the podium, so the Corvette is first, the 55 is second and the 62 is the third place finisher. The 911 goes to ninth in class.”

Two members from IMSA visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the inaugural Verizon IndyCar Series Grand Prix of Indianapolis road course race last weekend, and came away with positive impressions of the revised circuit the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship could use when it races at IMS in July.

"The layout to the circuit changed, so we wanted to come and take a look at it first hand and see exactly what was going on," said Scot Elkins, IMSA's VP of Competition and Technical Regulations, who toured the facility with IMSA race director Paul Walter. "The biggest thing that it boils down to is if we run this circuit versus the circuit that Grand-Am ran in the past (pictured, ABOVE), it makes a difference on the tire compounds for our tire partners at Continental and for Michelin and Falken because running the oval Turn 1 backwards almost requires an oval tire.

"So we wanted to come and do some really good recon on it and make a decision early enough for when we come out so that the tire companies are ready. To see what's going on. We've got Continental coming to do a test on the night after the historic race is here while the circuit is still up, so we're in a good place when we come back in July."

Elkins found a few sections of the 2.43-mile GP of Indy layout that would benefit from a few tweaks to suit the larger, heavier GTs and Prototypes that comprise the TUDOR Championship's four classes.

"I think everything about it is better than what it was the last time, and for us, we're going to have to look at it a little bit differently in terms of where the curbing is because for our cars, the curbing is not very aggressive, but it can't be because the way it has to be a motorcycle circuit as well," he explained.

"So what we're probably going to be doing is dropping some of our famous tire packs behind some of the curbs to kind of keep the guys from launching over the top of them. It's a really easy fix; it's not that big a deal. We'll see that probably in the [Turn] five, six area, and then maybe in 11. There's a couple of spots where you can actually go behind the curbs really heavily."

The July 25 TUDOR Championship event at IMS will once again be part of NASCAR's Brickyard 400 weekend, meaning the staffs from IMS and IMSA will need to squeeze in road course activities between the oval event.

"Our only real difficulty with anything, because we're here with NASCAR, is looking at what we can and can't do logistically in terms of converting it over," Elkins added. "Fortunately, Kevin Forbes and the guys at IMS did a great job. The curbs at one and the curbs at 12 are modular, they're metal, so they can come out. They come out pretty fast. And there's a couple of sections on the pit wall that were put in this weekend and can be taken out any other weekend, and we'll try to get that in and out quickly. Other than that, that's the only change-over we have to do. But the circuit is fantastic. I've talked to the same guys you have and everybody really likes it and thinks it's going to be really good racing."
