I can't say that the news that Baltimore has been cut from the schedule is a bad thing.

Me too but it's not just us. I've been reading the comments on the Grand Am, Mid-Ohio and Lime Rock sites and there is an overwhelming opinion that they have screwed the pooch on next years schedule. The merger isn't sitting well with true sports car racing fans now. I'm saying bye-bye to VIP Season tickets at Mid-Ohio and will just buy a weekend pass to the Vintage Races and a Saturday ticket to Indy Cars unless they surprise us with another race weekend worth attending. A sad situation indeed.

Maybe they should have added some races to the schedule. Only 12 seems like a short schedule to me.
The only reason Detroit is on the list is to satisfy the manufacturers.-

I was just thinking The P1, P2, DP, and challenge cars do a set of races at some tracks. The alms GT, GA GT, GS and challenge cars do races at different tracks.
Then in 2-3 years they see what the fans like watching the best.-

That Kansas race was so boring I turned it off. It's the first time in over a decade I've turned off a sports car race.-

Westbrook says "I Just Can’t Believe That I Walked Away From It" - must have been a crazy incident. Hope to find some video soon.
Apparently that's Darren Turner, happy to see he's ok. Must have stopped his car on track to check on him?-

Reports say the DPs came away significantly faster thanks to a bump in engine power, carbon brakes and all that aero plus reducing weight for the DPs while adding it to the P2s. The balancing was supposed to include making the P2s run different aero as well but I don't think any of them had it. So, they overshot and now re-balancing is expected. Of course, all that is on hold until they figure out whether they can blame tires, aero or both (and/or something else) for the Corvette DP crashes.
What makes this balancing so difficult is it isn't just about ultimate lap times, it's also about reducing some of the differences in how the two formulas make those times. You don't want significant speed and/or other performance differences on different parts of the same track between cars in the same class. I think I would love that because it would make for lots of action but they figure it would also greatly increase the opportunities for incidents, etc, if one can easily blast past on the straights while the other is significantly better in the twisty bits and has to fight to take the spot back there, lap after lap.
Unfortunately, the difficulty factor of this balancing biz is now even greater due to uncertainty following the incidents on the first day of the Daytona test.-
