mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............sequential and down force...............makes the heart pitter patter................
Happy news for some of us, esp. many of the old ALMS fans and the international audience. IMSA Radio Launches in 2015 with Creamer, Hindhaugh, Shaw (sportscar365.com)
Thanks Steve. Nice news. They still don't have Mid-Ohio back on their schedule for 2015.... Off my soapbox now!
I see this as just one of the teams that will say good-bye to the Tudor Series. This series was a circle jerk for the teams this year with constant rules changes and poor officiating. From what I've been told internally it was a 180 degree departure from what IMSA and Grand-Am were.
Just wait until the Fiat Abarth SRT show up at the track. Sorry to see those ground pounder Viper's go away.
I foresee some DP teams pulling out of Tudor and fielding cars in WC. Patrick Dempsey indicated that they were going to make an announcement at the LA Auto Show. I see him fielding a new DP team next year.
One might wonder if you were Fiat if you would really want to spend money on a Viper racing program that is competing directly with Ferrari.....
To me the WC is THE series. All you old guys will remember how good the WC Touring cars were, now no. The last privateer to win was Foo in his Honda at Laguna Seca way back when.
The cost to field a car in Tudor is way more than it was in Grand Am. I was told by a team that it cost them $300K more this year to field one car than it did last year to field 2 cars. The France family probably came out alright this year but no one else did. Is there a France Family member named "Bernie"?
The WC announced that the GS cars would be running separate from the GT cars so that there could be a bigger GS field. The mass exodus from Tutor. They are also adding more races not less like Tutor. Now for a little better TV coverage.
Second that. WC would be on my DVR schedule if the coverage was any good...and consistently available. Sad to say that matters so much because it's expensive to implement, but it matters a lot if your only practical means to enjoy a race is via TV. TUDOR coverage is available but I don't like it much...I tend to blame the commentary when I lose interest and click away but I suppose I don't really know what it is. I'm hoping the IMSA Radio biz helps because I like endurance racing and that, for me, is an advantage of TUDOR.
Dodge stopping the Viper program in Tudor had everything to do with Fiat not the series... That said it was expected after the first year that there would be some teams fall out and by the beginning of next season some teams to come in and teams that were there to reposition themselves in the series... The first year combined was not without it's problems, but this sports car racing fan is not ready to give up on the Tudor series just yet, and looks forward to 2015!!
Not me. Until they get their head out of their arse and bring back Mid-Ohio I'll find other grassroots racing to spend money on and get my racing fix.
