thanks guys for all your help ,part is now on order ,heres hoping ,oh by the way ..... How do I remove the inner wing ....
sussed the problem i think !! hi chaps ,I changed the chain tensioner £31.00 from main bmw dealer so not to bad but made no difference haha how I laughed :cryin: took the car to a localish mechanic they put it up on ramps reckon its water pump which confirms why its using a bit of water nowadays .I reckon I can do this myself WISH ME LUCK :fingerscrossed:
My only advice at this point would be to just keep it topped off and start checking scrappers for a used motor. When you find one with under 100k miles for a good deal pick it up and store it so if/when that bad day comes you can take a weekend & get it back on the road. Now of course I'm saying this IF the MINI is in great shape otherwise with no other issues. If there are any other issues then it might be better/cheaper to just drive it until it dies, break it and then use that money to put towards another.
I don't understand why a bad water pump would cause all of that sound though... are you sure this is a reputable mechanic?
I've heard noisy water pumps before & yes they can get loud. Hard to diagnose a noise an ocean away though.
Hi yes they have been around for a long time ,decent reputation ,ive located the pump and noise defiantly seems to be coming from there ,if I spend £70.00 on a new one and it isn't the problem then im going to burn it :mad5:
Car is otherwise nice good colour indy blue chilli pack panoramic ,and a blast to drive ,I drive a van all week so its good fun to shoot down the shops and find as many roundabouts as possible ,ill have to sort it ,its either the mini or a mpv ,and that aint happening
I was thinking of the position of an R53 water pump, that's why the sound position didn't make sense. But without a supercharger...it would be hard to turn the water pump in that position haha. I'm on board now.
