Actually I did look at Mexico 2016 last year but with the engine issue I ran out of time and funds. Now I'm waiting for 2016 to start, I even bought more Holey rims just in case.
Um Chris I hate to tell you but 2015 is long gone. You have waited to long. Perhaps you should consider 2016 I hear it may be a good year
I KNOW those holeys will serve you well, plus they are a lot lighter than the 8-spokes you were running!
It's funny that this thread being titled urgent gets solved after half a year and over 400 posts; with no definitive answers. It's been more like Zen and the art of Mini diagnostic. It feels nice to know you did it.
Alternatively: the bad fuel gummed up the injectors and valves, the ECM internalized the new fuel-air ratio/ misfire/ knock patterns and continued acting up regardless of improved conditions.
Hahahaha I did think that! "Urgent" was lost a long time ago! For sure the fuel gummed up a few things but just by swapping the pulley and alternator changed the fault range. The strange thing is the fault is still there at 3200-3500 but only when the Mini is standing still. On the road nothing happens. Who cares, it's running. Didn't work on the Mini last night! Watched "the Moaning of life" instead!
It did but it didn't fix it. Maybe it just changed the load on the engine enough for the ECM to notice.
The crank sensor and key arrived today so I'm confident the fault will be fixed. What I have noticed is the engine shuts off for a split second once in a while so I hope that is the duff key.
Hahaha I remember those cars...ugly! I tried the key at lunch and now the engine fire the first turn and not forever cranking. With the Duff key maybe the EWS was searching the coding? 1 issue less.....this is becoming fun again. LOL
I'm kinda sad to see that you've sorted the problem. I'm gonna miss the regular updates you've shared and the advice so many have given. I've had a funny misfire that comes any goes, most noticeably during the hotter days of summer, with the AC running. I think I'm gonna order a crank sensor and see if my issue will disappear... Great to hear your back on the road. Cheers!! :beer
I love you but I hate you relationship! haha ah yes with everything I've only the short block is original. I changed the key, crank sensor and now the fault is gone. No popping at 3000. This has to be the strangest fault ever or maybe I'm the strange one! As much as I liked posting all the issues and receiving the advice I'm glad it's over. Thanks to everyone who helped and stuck with me. Time to watch the Monte!
I changed the key, crank sensor and now the fault is gone. No popping at 3000. ![/QUOTE] I knew it wasn't the pulley
