I had an old one that they could not update. If you go to the website and type in you S/n they will tell you if yours will support an upgrade.
I got a nice discount on a brand new one that does not go off when you get near a car with the side warning radar now crap all cars have. Only thing they required was for me to send back my old V1 unit.
As for mounting the V1 I use a large piece of Velcro and stick in on the passengers side by the ceiling rear view mirror back about 3 inches from the windshield. I have the heads up display in front of my tach by the steering so I can mute it quickly. I added a circuit to the fuse box with an extra female cig lighter bung. I plugged the power cable into to it and one line goes up to the heads up or remote head by the tach and the other line runs up the A-pilfer and across and under the headliner to the V1 main unit.
By sitting back a little the main unit still has full view both front and back and can’t be seen from the outside day or night.
This way I can take the main unit and remote head out when not in use and know one notices.
I met a guy that had a Ferrari. He had his hanging in the middle just behind the front seats. It had a clear view of the front and rear windshield. He had the remote display where only he could see it from the drivers seat. It was a very stealthy setup. A lot like what Dave described.
