    a 993 is air-cooled and goes for double a 996 these days. 997 is the current model 911

    I got to drive a buddy's 997 GT3 RS. I'll settle for a C2 Targa. :D

    Air cooled and proper round headlights. The 996 lights were a HUGE mistake.

    That I agree with. Was looking at a low mile 996. Well equipped, CPO, reasonably priced. But just could not deal with the headlights.

    It seems you can practically trip over 993's in the $20K range... A quick autotrader search netted cars from $10K to the sky (for some of those CS models...). I've read that if you're handy, they aren't bad to work on either, although parts can still be a bit pricey.

    Someday... when I have more room...

    Funny... our dentist friend has a '72 Volvo 1800 and a '69 MGB...

    996 was water-cooled too, so.....that leaves you with a 993 or older.
