Crossed a double yellow line to pass the truck too, nimrod......
Why do you suppose he turned on his flashers and stopped in front of the truck?
That wasn't a brake check BTW, he didn't slam on his brakes....and he turned on his flashers first. Really weird behavior tho..... -

MINIdave some uropepeon cars will flash their hazards when doing very hard breaking. I've coded my German breadvan to do that. It is a safety item. I think he was braking hard & apparently the court did too. Not to mention coming close to a head on while over the double yellow. Suspenders for 11 months, yes!.
FWIW I think that guy could have stopped his truck if he wanted to. I may have done the same thing in that situation. It was a very light hit, didn't even break those huge taillights :ihih: -

Welcome to my world, it's amazing that people still do this stuff with cameras everywhere.
Even here in the states, many companies have installed cameras in their trucks for just this reason. (among others I don't need to rant about)
As far as the truck driver stopping faster, too many variables to tell, weight being the biggest one.
I can pretty much bet on what happened prior, the "guy" in the Mini was determined not to let the trick in front of him at the ramp merge, and when that didn't work out in his favor....
Well, you know the rest....
It still amazes me how people completely lose all sense of reason over the smallest of things, with all that traffic, the truck being in front of him was going to add "0" to his travel time. -

Still the idiot crossed a double yellow line on a blind curve to the right, then stopped!
I agree, I think the truck was trying to make a point when he hit the MINI
