With the attention being paid to detail on this project one can tell this is not their firstest rodeo by a long shot.
The best part of this is every time the release a new episode I go back and watch them all again from the beginning then watch the latest one.
Hay they may be done in time for the Dragon! Of course its a bit of a drive from England. Project Binky at the Dragon!
While they've really strengthened the lower body, the upper is still made out of the same British tin foil - that's why I really thought they'd put a roll cage in it. Wonder if they're going to clean and paint the engine and rear diff before they mount it in there? I also wonder if they'll build the flares (wheel arches) out of metal or if there's a commercial fiberglass arch that will work? They still have another year's worth of work at this rate, but the car is really turning out well. By the time they're done the only part of the body that will be original to the car is the roof! :biggrin5:
I'm pretty sure that they will put a cage in it. I remember a part where they were fitting out the floor where they put in much thicker steel and gussets to prepare a strong flat surface for a cage.
Yes, that's when he said he wasn't going to fit one.....but they were installing the plates just in case they changed their minds......... I can't believe they won't tho. Still been an awesome project so far, now that the rear sheet metal's done I'd think the next move is to start fitting the running gear......seems like the front end will have to be removable, or a flip front. Any guesses what the captive nuts in the back were for? my guess is fuel cell and battery - same with the welded in nut for a ground strap.
What's not to want when you get a high quality well built classic mini. Then add on it has a Toyota quality built bullet proof motor with an AWD & turbo set up. I will see your kidney and will match it and add my left lung.
We're loving all the speculation guys. I can confirm that there is no intention of fitting a cage. But at least the option is there in the future. And for the purposes of clarity, we won't accept human organs as any kind of payment! Thanks for all the lovely comments. We're delighted that you're all enjoying the project. Cheers! Richard.
Will you take donuts? :donut1: Keep up the good work! Come to the Dragon we'll take good care of you guys, Its only 4190 miles or for you 6744km. :biggrin5:
I have a question for you Richard, where's the radiator going to go? Now that you've closed in the back it can't go there, and there's no room in the front......about all that's left are some small rads ala F1 in the front fenders (and I really don't see any room there either) or the roof - the only original panel left on the whole car!
It won't be long until all is revealed! Can't give away spoilers to the most asked question now can I?
Ok every time I see a new post on this thread I get my hopes up and think there's a new video! Rjbcar27 this is a tease, where's the next video!
