That car is sick looking. I would drive it for damn sure. I wonder what the HP is?

The current one is on par with the Golf. I was PO'ed when I found out they weren't bringing it to the US because they were worried about canabalizing sales of the Golf/GTI.
I would DEFINITELY look into one as a fun DD. -
Gotta wonder it would matter... That thing is a hellofalot cooler than the golf EVER was... So long as it sells, who cares which one?

I am not holding my breath as the head office has stated many times that they have no plans on bringing the Scirocco to the states. The only VW person who wants it is the US head. They are bringing the GolfR over and VW feels that that is all we 'mericans want.
But I have to say, if VW has finally gotten the crappy build-quality issues sorted out that is my next car. Now if I could only get my MkI Scirocco back.......:cryin: -

I just do not get the Scirocco it is a Golf or GTI with some style added and some utility taken away. Does this car look nice? yes it does, but having driven the last few generations of GTI there is no way I would buy one. It is too lifeless. When I bought my Mini I had every intention of buying a GTI. After driving one I was confused by why people like them. There is zero steering feel and their limits are so high they are no fun to drive unless you are breaking the law by a wide margin.
Fast forward to today and when I replaced my Mini I again thought about a GTI (I just plain love the concept of the 4 door one) but again a test drive was all it took to remind me how unfun these cars are. It really suprises me that Mini owners think about VW's this way. After owning a Mini I would never be able to own a VW, life is too short to drive an uninspiring car. -

I know of at least two people who sold their Scirocco's after I whipped them on Mulholland. -

That was another good'un: light as a Lotus and enough power to get out of it's own way. I also liked the Festiva, and especially it's evil offspring the Shogun:
There were only several made. Amazingly, a guy who owns a body shop within walking distance of Helix has one. He was giving out rides one day and it was down to me or this really cute girl for the last ride. The jerk chose the cute girl over me! I woulda worn a really hot miniskirt if it made a difference. -

I have to disagree (Aren't opinions fun?). I loved my MkV GTI. I've been into trying different things. the MINI marks car 13 in the last 14 years. The GTI certainly isn't lifeless nor does it have "zero steering feel". I loved Autocrossing that GTI it did really well. Even beat a few MINI owners back when an MCS was a GS car. :cornut:
The styling of the Scirocco appeals GREATLY to me and if it handles as well, if not better than, my MkV GTI then I'm sold on one for the fun factor. [/SOAPBOX]
In the end: To each thier own and may they enjoy it well! :beer -
My step son has an 09 Scirocco tsi with 210 hp. It is less responsive than the Mini even feels a bit boring to drive. It is a well built car but I would take the mini hands down.

If the Scirocco does come to America it might be time to sell the GP.
