    How close to the roof does this rack sit?
    I'm looking for something that is really low profile, hopefully easy to remove when I don't need it.

    had an r53 with a roof rack. You'll want to get the oem rack as it is unbeatable. Will function with the sunroof opened or closed but you are going to get a LOT of wind roar.Will support a ridiculous amount of weight. I loaded enough lumber for a 12x20 deck onto the MINI for a one shot delivery.Secret for installation; remove inner grab handles and side sun visor.From inside pin punch holes for mounting bolts. Don't forget to paint with nail polish the drilled holes to prevent rust. OEM blockoff plates work very well if you don't want to leave on the car
