Yesterday afternoon I got a warning ticket right after the Tabcat Bridge from a deputy...60 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Anyone else have a certification of acceleration from MOTD 12?

You're lucky he just warned you. They always hang out there, looking for guys who get on the gas after leaving the Dragon...easy pickings!

Another good reason to donate to the local food bank.... It just might have helped you out in this particular instance....

It's those TN coppers nailing everyone and the food bank stuff goes to NC, Graham County.

Two unfortunates got stopped for speeding at MITO last year. They were both required to return for court appearances some time later. Don't know where they were from but it had to be a real pain to make the trip back. A few pitched in and helped with the fine. Could that be considered enabling?

I'm sure the judge didn't have a benevolent sense of humor when he noticed the ticket was written for going 130 in a 55 zone. Wonder how many points go ones license for that feat?

130 in a 55? Why bother stopping? You're probably going to loose your license and your car is getting impounded anyway. Might as well enjoy your last ride in your car.

130 on a public, two-lane road? That's insane. The guy should have lost his license forever - or at least been sentenced to driving a Prius C for the rest of his life.

Yep, I was coming out of the Dragon on Friday and a Clubbie was pulled over right there on the other side of the bridge.....

Now, just before I hit the Scenic overlook (they like to sit there as well, pointed toward the NC direction), I back off and coast down to the bottom, then set my cruise control for 43mph as soon as I see the 40mph sign, and just suck it up...feels like I'm crawling.....

You are right, it's just so easy to just lay on the throttle after running the Dragon...

More runs today before heading home tomorrow....beautiful here today. Deep blue, cloudless sky......

60 in a 40, that's awesome! A normal traveling speed on my city streets...

While I didn't make it to MOTD this year, I have a "Certificate of Honor" (warning only) from a TN LEO from MTTS 2012...at the top of the Dragon, where I was shifting into 4th gear at about 45 mph, and he was pulling cars out into the lot before the bridge.

Mostly embarrassed because my wife was sitting nav, and I had to hear about "speeding" for 10 minutes while he wrote it up...

Chad (Total MINI&BMW in Charleston) and myself picked one up a couple of years ago on 28; we deserved it, weren't paying attention just flowing along, then BANG radar/laser detector goes off, I look down and pull over and wait- when he finally got to us (hehe) and checked us out the very kind officer informed us that the speed limit in that part of the state was 55 not :yikes:+ :eek6:. Wrote us up for 73; did NOT tow us away and jail us like he could have; mailed in a $154 fine and all is good with the world. If you are going to speed, it's the price you pay

130 in a 55 or a 70 zone is ok and the points don't come back to most states.
I know I did 130 in a few places on the way to Fontana overnight. I know people don't like it but oh well it's my life and I repeat NO ONE was on the stretch of road I was on. If I die in a car crash don't cry for me have a beer because I was doing what I love, driving my MINI.

If you are going to speed be safe and don't do it in traffic.

FYI everyone speeds on the Dragon and NO ONE drives the whole thing at just 30 and if you say you do I call BS unless you are on a crappy Harley.

I haven't a clue how fast I was going on the Twilight and Twisties run. I was just trying to keep up with the car in front of me and keep from getting run over by the one behind me. Fun run though.
