The weather guessers are predicting 40% chance of sunshine Monday and 20% Tuesday on the 10 day forecast. Temps are good in the mid 70's. I'm predicting that the forecasts will change as we get closer.
Ummm, Mark, it's Springtime down there, but even that word is subject to bigtime changes. I've been on the Cherohalla Skyway in snow during MOTD [the year the Dragon was closed with the rockslide] and I watched those terrible storms that hit Knoxville and Tuscaloosa that year while at MOTD, from on the Front Porch while we were having the Cigar Salon that year...the lightning and thunder were awe-inspiring and we just knew we were in between it all. I guess I'm saying that we should expect and prepare for almost anything, but hope for the best. We'll have fun, no matter what.
Hopefully it is clear enough to yank the top off while I am there... The spring storms down there can be horrendous, and they come out of nowhere! It would be nice to have 11 sunny days of vacation time, but I am expecting one or two in the rain... Pack for everything people, the weather can change in 10 minutes without warning!
You got that right,,,I think those of us who have been there before can recite how much the vendor area has flooded during cloudbursts.
The cool thing about Fontana and the Dragon area is the weather can be fine for five miles and then you drive into a rain storm for a mile and then are in the sun again 5 min later.
There are a lot of people who just wash their cars in the driveway of their cabins, too. dunno why, since it seems it would be more convenient if they just went to a washing station...guess it's just OCD to an extreme.
