The weather is odd at Fontana and the Dragon because you are up in the mountains. You can be at Fontana and decide to go runout to Robbinsville or Knoxville area and run into pouring rain. When you get back to Fontana, the Dragon or Hellbender it never rained at all. Don't worry about the weather it's going to be great and just have a little faith.
Have a safe, smooth drive. Just make sure you stay INSIDE the yellow line on your side when going thru the Dragon and also down Hwy 28 [aka Hellbender]!
From what all my friends here in Clarksville are saying, it has been a real poo storm down here lately. Good thing Im still 400ish miles away...
That's a good day to test your Summer tires in the rain on the Dragon. :ihih: Plus you won't get stick behind any slow HD bike's on the Dragon and you won't have to wash your car when you get back to Fontana. Just sit on the couch with a fridge full of cold beer and friends.
Its been a slow soaking rain since I got to Fontana. Lots of people are already at the cabins, even had a little fun drive with a couple MINIs behind me from the Dragon, to Fontana Dam. Ive never seen the ESP system in the Jeep freak out so bad... It was like the light was wired to stay on continuous, and the ABS and throttle cut was kicking in around most of the curves! Since it is dark and rainy, I decided to head to Robbinsville and get a room.
A little rain on Wednesday with a good forecast the rest of he week. Temps look great for horsepower and sitting around the fire pits at night.....are we there yet?
Nice gentle rain in Asheville last night, washed the dust off. Drove NC80 from Burnsville to Old Fort yesterday, did a little trout fishin'. NC80 was a blast. See y'all in Fontana Wednesday!
The weather was great for MOTD. Little rain Monday night, some Tuesday but after that it was great. just enough to keep the pollen down while they cut the grass. Another great week at Fontana / MOTD. even better on the weekend without any rain for the entire loooooooooong ride home.
We got a bit more than a LITTLE rain Dave... I remember the hard top of the Jeep leaking directly onto my face at one point during the night as I was trying to sleep!
Yeah I slept for 12 hours that night and I did not hear a damn thing after being up for well over 27 hours straight. That was a great nights sleep.
