I called Las Vegas Desert Mini today and they scheduled my appointment for replacement of the 2007 S recall water pump for April 10 2012. Nice!!!
We have an interesting situation. Our 2007 S, Lassie, was originally delivered in Germany to a service member. I called up our new dealership (ownership and location changed this month) to check on the recall status for our VIN. They informed me that because the car was originally in Germany that it would not be covered by the MINI NA recall. They told me I should get the pump fixed right away because of the fire hazard, and that we should pay them about $500 to do that. I decided I should call ASK-MINI and check on the VIN that way. Their story was a little different, the gentleman I spoke with there tells me that despite the car being a 07 build R56 S, that this particular VIN is not affected by the recall. Is that possible? I thought all of them had the faulty circuitry on the pump, am I missing something?
Yeah... *cough cough*. :frown2: You might want to plan a trip the California for the weekend and have it done a a dealer down here. Just sayin'. Desert MINI Reviews
Took mine in this morning for the aux turbo water pump recall. In-Out in exactly one hour.... I requested the SA make a special note on the paper work... DO NOT WASH THE MINI..... They washed the MINI..... Grrrrrrr..... :mad2:
MM, they cannot read and you let them work on Fungo? :frown2:  I have my 07 going in April 18 for recall and oil change, taking the 09 JCW in for recall on April 12, don't own the JCW but I am the caretaker, I think it has 3200 miles now. Don
I did pop the hood and did a though visual inspection. Checking things like did they top up the coolant reservoir to replace what they undoubtedly lost when they pulled the hoses off the bad pump. Looked for leaks under the MINI. You probably will notice the "sweet" smell of antifreeze after driving the MINI, probably leakage onto the engine / transmission, but it went away after a while....
I have had the same think happen when my MINI has been in there. I tell them no wash & it gets run though their not so gentle auto car wash rack. Now I tape a big honking sign on the dash when my MINI is in for service. It does work. Glad you got your MINI de-flambe'd....
Excellent day at Orlando Mini I got my recall letter and called Orlando Mini to get it done. March 13th. at 7:30am drove over from Daytona and the SA took my car right in. He asked if it needed anything and of course I said no. He informed me of the timing chain tensioner bulletin and asked if I wanted it checked out while I was there. Of course I said "YES" so after checking the car he informed me that the components needed replacing and it would take most of the day. I said to go ahead and do it and check whatever else the car needs and go ahead and take care of anything it needs. I decided to just stay in Orlando and wait to have everything done so I had the Mini dealers shuttle take me to the Mall. I seen two movies and ate a late lunch and called the shuttle to take me back to the dealers. My car was not finished so I test drove an automatic"S" with the paddle shifters. (NICE) They not only did the recall but also replaced all of the components in the timing chain system, then drained and replaced the brake fluid, Replaced the cabin filter and replaced my old original computer program with the latest updated version. I had a great relaxing day in Orlando and now everything on my 2009 factory JCW is done. They did ask if I wanted my car washed. (I said no ) It was as clean as a pin anyway and did not need washing. All of this was done in one day at no charge at all to me.
I called last week to schedule an appointment and it was 3 weeks out for me. Fortunately my Clubbie has become a weekend car so I don't drive it that much anymore. As far as car washes go, I keep a laminated sign on my steering wheel and speedo that says "No Wash, No Lave". I also remind my SA when it comes in and they know NOT to wash my MINI. I bring my car in washed and clean so they don't feel the need to do a courtesy wash, lol. Richard
I know Nathan asked for this a while ago. I don't remember seeing it posted. If it's still needed great. If not, I'll delete the attachment and save some server space.
Thanks for posting the letter! Don't worry about server space. The last server move took us from 250GB of storage to 1TB.
I hang a sign on the rear view mirror with a "please don't wash" and a funny cartoon character. I think the cartoon gets their attention. They haven't washed it yet!
Hi all- I'm new here I have 07 Sport and have loved it until recently! I got the aux water pump recall completed then a couple days later my car was pouring our antifreeze. Back to the dealer, I was told I had to replace the main water pump. $700 later I have my car back. Now, only a couple days later my AC is only blowing warm air. Please tell me these are some how related and I don't need to shell out more $ to the dealership? Any input is welcome, I am totally new to this and trying to learn as much as possible!
Homer it sure is possible that those things could go as they did & be a terrible coincidental thing. I'm sorry I know that is not what you wanted to hear. I would be unhappy also, but you have a MINI so at least for me that makes it worth it. Let us know what you find out about the AC. Welcome to M/A...
20011 s mini cooper pepper white Hay guys I called my dealer in Birmingham Al to see if I was on recall list, they asked for my last six numbers I said last night no i mean vin #X83160 no i'm not on the list do i understand all are not on the recall list for water pump Please respond thanks
For the 2011 models it depends on the build date. If was a later 2011 build than it has the updated part from the factory.
I have a December 2010 build Clubman S, and my local dealer told me I am not on the list to have it replaced.
Had water pump replaced last week and front brakes since they were close to being gone and I didn't even show the recall letter. Treated well at Nick Alexander Mini.
