Turns out I was completely wrong, and our Coupler is 1.28 at the neck too. So the 'Hotlink' suitable for first and second gen MINI's. It is also machined to allow the hose from the transmission on Second Gen automatics to be attached when required.

I installed my water temp gauge a few weeks ago. I used the 3/4" adapter from Auto Meter. I have the Marshal Gauges. I like the fact they have no "words" on them. However east is labeled in PSI/VAC (Boost), PSI (Oil Pressure), and F° (Water Temp). Plus I installed them so I know which is which.

I am with you on the 'words', gauges must be labeled, even if you already know what they are! At least for my car! -

This is the adapter I got from 42 Draft Designs.
They make stuff for V-dubs but I the recommendation of MM the adapter is a nice fit. OD 1.277
Adapter and sending unit installed.
Water Temp and AFR gauge installed.

Mr. Jim
When you installed the sender adapter in the radiator hose were you concerned about the small amount of antifreeze you lost when you disconnected the pipes. I just installed the craven speed hotline and a Marshal Temperature Gauge in my 2006 S and I was just wondering if it might have introduced some air into the system. If I did, since I now do not have a bleed screw how do I get any air out of the system.
Thanks
