Thanks again to all who have helped so far. I've pretty much got all the parts to get the RS rear back the way it was. Helix 13 helped the lateral arms, Emini parts are working hard to cover all those little dealer only stuff. Mini of Costa Rica are handling the windows and big stuff and the CR rally folks are looking for the rest of things we need. We got some paint donated and the body work guy is doing his best to fix the body. If all goes well everything should come together the week I'm back in CR.
I have to say again thanks for the help and donations which have helped move the rebuild along much quicker then I could have ever expected! without your help I would not have had all the parts to take the next visit and would most likely not have the Mini finished by the 23rd. There is going to be a good chance the Mini won't be ready as we don't have a roof and the glass is on order from Germany but never say never... All is not lost as there has been some clashes with the last rally date and NACAM rally which means the last rally we did would be the final points rally securing our 2nd place in the championship! That said this was our debut year so I'm pretty chuffed that out the box the Mini was winning all the rallies entered. With the pressure off slightly I'm still pushing for the 23rd as I'm worried about the Mini stripped down in the shop, the owner is a good chap but stuff does have a chance to go walkies in CR. So thanks again, your names will be on the Mini. I just ordered the cherckered decals and Union Jack for the roof so the Mini will be the same.
Do really need glass and a roof to race? Could you cover the back windows and roof with a race net of some type just so you could get out and race if the suspension is fixed?
hahah imagine that! no rear glass would be ok but no roof might be an issue. Anyway without rally suspension the Mini will be driven with a lot of caution. The rally on the 23rd is a super special with no jumps so we should be fine.
I went to Mini of Bedford yesterday to pick up a bag of goodies thanks to Steven, the best Mini parts bloke there is! I took a few photos which I'll post soon. Thanks again to everyone. I have www.eminiparts.com decals ready to be put on the Mini once I get back down there.
I can use plexi-glass but seeing as this is a daily driver in a not so secure country I've plan to use the original glass.
Another donation from M/A as promised from Calendar sales sent. Still time to order a calendar, not only do you get a great calendar but you support both M/A and the Rally MINI in Costa Rica. Motoring Alliance 2015 Calendar
I just saw that Nathan! Wow! Thanks. Don't forget to send at least 4 MA stickers for the Mini. 2 for the front and 2 for the rear. Prodrive just sent their's! Flight got canceled so a 2:15Am kick off tomorrow to break the Mini out of the body shop jail.
Finally I got into photo bucket! See the projects section for an up date. This is a happy me receiving parts from Eminiparts.
Thanks Nathan, please remember the send those go faster MA decals. Also MA gets a nice plug in Modern Mini magazine.
Thanks Nathan for the decals! I'm about to start working with the decals guy to make a decal with everyone that helped us. For the CR rally guys I'm doing "Team 10", "Team 99" etc but for the MA members I can either put your MA user name or your family name from donations recieved in PayPal. Which do you prefer?
Usernames. It'll make for a convoluted mess of letters and numbers.... but a good story for any who ask about them.
Thanks Dave, I did think user names would be more interesting. I'm almost sure I replied to all of you in the PM's but could you just PM me so I don't forget anyone. Thanks again.
