Makin a Custom Stripper Plate Bracket... Gettin close now Justa Jim.... Almost done.... Can see the light at the end of the tunnel... Still no word back from the manufacturer on price and availability... Tack welded for "In place" test fitting..... Purrrrrrfect.....
Just crossed the finish line.... I win.... Up and running..... In production right now.... Still waiting for a price and availability on the OEM part... My cost.... $660.00....rrr:
Naw... Going with the well worn patina of natural steel thats working for me makin a profit for the company.... It'll look even better as time and use influence the finish.... But then again..... Maybe a bunch of red stickers..... Yeah, red stickers....
Yeah but if red they won't know it when a finger gets lopped off. Better slow and have all digits than stylish, quick and nicknamed Stumpy.
I worked with a guy nicknamed Stumpy. He lost the front quarter (or third ? give or take) of both of his feet when a faulty multi-ton blast door slammed shut. Feisty little guy, you could only get away with calling him Stumpy if you did it behind his back. :biggrin5:
Send the broken piece to the company with a note to check their quality control...and a "Thanks, but no thanks" reply. BTW, GRRRRREAT job on YOUR replacement design!
No, I don't want to rub it in.... I probably got 30 years use out of this part, granted I had to weld it up probably 4-5 times. I just came to the conclusion I could make the part better out of cold rolled steel and much quicker. I'm sure the OEM manufacturer had reasons for the direction they took, which are probably different than the direction I took. That doesn't necessarily make us each wrong....
If your stripper plate bracket needs to be that heavy duty, I don't think I want to know what kind of strippers you have out there ;-)
